How to Mill 8x8 Beams - WoodMizer LT40 Portable Sawmill

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Milling beams requires a little extra attention to a few things and in this video I'll show how to get it right on my wood mizer lt40 portable sawmill.
With tapered logs or beams that are too big to more than one out of the log, it's important to not split the pith, center the heart when you box it in (box the heart) and work your way to the final product carefully if top quality is your goal. Milling a beam this way will also help with stress! If the log is stressed, taking a little off each side of the cant on your way down will reduce the impact of stress in the log.

Here are some of the tools I use on the mill, to seal logs and the camera's I use to film videos:
amzn.to/3ONBa4b -- Anchorseal 2 -- it's what I use!
amzn.to/3kqIUuY -- my big cant hook
amzn.to/3LvOvfm - my small cant hook
amzn.to/3oVnPuK - my main camera
amzn.to/3QoXwZO - This is the media mod I use to get better sound and more

I currently run two GoPro's (one with the Media Mod) and occasionally a 3rd camera when the wife is there (a Canon SLR type) and have been slowly acquiring tripods, clips, clamps and magnets etc) as well as a Jackery 550 to charge batteries in the field when not hooked up to shore power as well as various other items in order to try to capture what it's like to mill in the field all the time. If you'd like to help the channel out, please feel free to donate! Thanks!
