Welcome to my KZread channel Hairliciously. In this channel, I will be taking you on a journey of my FUE hair transplant progress. Towards the end of November 2016, I had a 1700 FUE hair transplant done in South Korea at Motion Clinic (en.motionclinic.kr) to lower my hairline and to fill in my receding temples. The FUE hair transplant procedure took me about 7-8 hours to complete and cost me approximately $5000 USD.
I will be doing daily updates on my hair transplant progress, so feel free to subscribe and ask any questions you have. Thanks for visiting!
Please like, comment and subscribe! :)
======================================
Products I am using to supplement my FUE hair transplant:
1. HAIRLICIOUSLY Dr Pen 1.5mm 1-2x a week. (temples and hairline)
2. HAIRLICIOUSLY Hair Growth Supplement 2x a day
3. Minoxidil (Rogaine) - Minoxidil slows hair loss progression and promotes hair regrowth. I've noticed that using Minoxidil helped me grow my transplanted hairs a lot more quicker.
4. Pumpkin Seed Oil 1000 mg + HAIRLICIOUSLY Vitamins
5. HAIRLICIOUSLY Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)SHAVED MY HEAD: • I SHAVED MY HEAD AGAIN...

It's important to note that tretinoin can be very harmful (carcinogenic) when exposed to direct sunlight. Never use tretinoin as a part of your morning routine only before bed.

Tretinoin is difficult to get in the UK, I had to use an online pharmacy and got 2 tubes of cream and 2 of gel and it was €68 from Romania. An interceding bank took a large chunk but the pharmacy honoured the deal when I showed them the transfer receipt. I’ve also got it from an Indian online pharmacy. It’s extremely good at improving sun damage over a year or 2, I’m 59 male, outside worker and my skin has improved massively, I look years younger than my peers, no crows feet, and just a bit of sun damage to my neck. It’s good stuff,

In my opinion tretinoin can be useful starting off minoxidil treatment or if you haven't seen results in a while, but if you have been longer than a few years and you already had the improvement i dont think is gonna improve something that is already at the best shape. I think the only thing it might do is make you get your results faster. PD: i would use first a leave in moisturizer conditioner and the apply retinoid mixed with minox.

Just to share my experience. I used tretinoin 0.025% once a day for like 5 months and it absolutely dried the hell out of my scalp. My scalp became grainy and was inflamed and irritated all the time. This aggravated period long exceeded the normal purging phase that tretinoin induces. I switched over to 0.01% and it was better but still irritated so I dropped tretinoin sadly. Might try it again however

Tbh waiting 20-30 minutes in between is too inconvenient for me. I just create a topical cocktail in a shotglass with minoxidil, a dab of tretinoin, and RU58841 powder. Then use dropper to mix it up and apply. Worked amazing for me, combined with oral fin and 1.5mm/5d. Went from being past the NW3 mark + serious diffuse thinning, to NW2 + unnoticeable amount of thinning in 9 months. And I'm still getting new hairs sprouting out of my frontal forelock and below my hairline. Have a hair transplant planned, but if things continue like this, I'll either cancel it, or just do it for perfectionist reasons, as its not super necessary anymore.

People who apply tretinoin to their face are often recommended to use sunscreen every day because tretinoin can make the skin more sensitive to the sun. When tretinoin is used on the scalp to address receding hairlines, it's likely that the scalp becomes more vulnerable to sunburn. This increased sensitivity to the sun may lead to a higher risk of skin cancer. - just my guesswork...

Questions: - Once a day tretinoin, so that means one minoxidil session will be "on it's own". I guess that's because tretinoin cream stays a long time on the scalp? - Have you personnally done, and do you recommend, actual hair testing to measure sulfotransferase enzyme activity to predict response? - Rogaine official instructions are HALF A CAPFULL twice per day. That seems like a minuscule quantity and nowhere near enough to cover (at least my) balding areas. Do you go over that recommended quantity with confidence?

I don't think it's better than minoxidil, especially for beard growth, since some of the compounds on these things actually have natural topical DHT blockers, and beard actually needs DHT to develop. Minoxidil is very effective to develop a beard though, i had no beard at all and after 6 months i now have a full beard, and i've seen many people who achieved the same, it's actually much easier to grow your beard with minoxidil than to grow your hair.

You mentioned using a moisturiser as minoxidil and tretinion are very drying. How do you moisturise the scalp? I have plenty of Tret but haven’t used it on the scalp yet. However the minoxidil I use daily already causes itching/irritation also makes my shoulder length hair feel slightly sticky with build up. Bad if you don’t like washing hair more than twice a week. Also If I add hair oil for example to moisturise scalp after using tret , will the minoxidil still work and penetrate? (I’m also looking to start micro needling).

I been trying to find that out but even with tretinoin there was only one study using tretinoin and minoxidil together. There are 0 studies using minoxidil with other retinoids. Tretinoin works by upregulating sulfotranferase enzymes. Do other retinoids do that? I have no idea couldn't find any information about that. I suspect they would but it's uncharted territory. But when applied retinol converts to retinaldehyde which converts to tretinoin. So maybe retinaldehyde would work about as well. Maybe adapalene would work . I hava a question on electronic micro-needlings. Most people were using the Dr.pen micro-needling when I went on the youtube and reddit website . But in China, I notice that most people were using the Sendery micro-needling.The Sendery company which belongs to German only makes hair loss related products, but I couldn't find them on any foreign websites. So Can you give me advice on how to choose one of the two device. Thanks for you answer appreicately.

Does using minoxidil with tretinoin diminish the effectiveness of tretinoin for its intended purpose? I was hoping that I could work on both my acne and scars, while also growing more facial hair. Is there any research that touches base on this?

I would say yes since it exactly the same thing people who get a perscription for acne use. I guess the only thing would be the difference in would be dosages for applying it on the scalp vs applying it for acne. But haven't done enough research on that yet.

Sucks because I literally started rolling my beard like 2 weeks before so I never got to see if it would help with minoxidil absorption

I used minoxidil for a good couple of months than I saw so many video that it’s effective to pair with micro needling. So I got one. Well I probably shouldn’t. After using the 2 I had developed a bad reaction to minoxidil, my scalp was very itchy, red, became super dry, painful. Now I had 2 weeks of 2 different steroid topicals and 1 corticosteroid prescribed by my derm. It’s better but with all the inflammation I just set myself back with hair loss. I use tretinoin for my face, I can see benefits also peeling which is normal and I can cope with it, but I cannot imagine using the 3 at the same time, would probably give me very bad irritation and pain so please consult with your doctor first.

@@alexd1074 Minoxidil is needed to use every day, so I used the topical the next day, I waited 24 hours to be safe. It’s no point to stop use minoxidil for a week before and after with this effort don’t even intend. My dermatologist said I developed an allergic reaction to minoxidil. I think it opened these micro channels and the ingredient went too aggressive. I still use minoxidil after that 2 weeks of treatments for allergy but I ditched the micro needle. I think first of all has to be very high quality expensive device not to cause any problems, second it’s not a device safe to use at home. Even though I disinfected the whole thing very thoroughly every time before and after usage.

Also if I do this at night, can I wash my hair in the morning and then spend my day without neither minoxidil nor tretinoin on the scalp and just depend on it being applied in the evening.? any help with my question will be highly appreciated.
