I think one of the biggest hurdles is when you start getting deeper, then get a taste of clarity or "higher consciousness." The natural response is to try to cling to it, push yourself toward it, force your mind to pursue it in anticipation of greater rewards to come. Do not do this. Do not seize it. Do not dictate what form it takes. Stop trying to order it's arrival-time.

I have started meditation about a week ago and on the third day, I really started to feel the energy. I could feel it and I could see it as my eyes closed. Every time I do not feel like meditating, I go do it. And once I start, I cannot stop until I feel a certain smile and happiness within myself. The meditations usually last an hour at most; and I gotta say, I feel wonderful.

Good for you pal, so many give up on meditation when there is an unpleasant moment and never take it up again, even pain can become buoyant lighter and more transparent in meditation, another wonderful thing I have discovered is that everything you have done said and even dreamed is stored somewhere in the mind, keep keeping Sean.

I hear what you are saying but I respectfully disagree. Study Tao teaching in depth and you will find that all that you have held on to that makes up who you are as a character can be forgotten or let go or erased. Once erased…you then can rebuild. What you rebuild with is up to you. Some could choose to rebuild on nothingness and join in with nature and let nature guide the way, not anything else. Good luck 👍

Wow! George and Master Gu - this was a pretty profound video for me. I've been working on my meditation for some time now using what one might call the various 'traditional' methods (such as counting, thought clearing/empty mind etc.), yet I would always fall into a pattern of my own. I kept trying to correct the pattern so it would fall into line with the more traditional ways. And now I see Master Gu basically explaining that way I have always naturally been drawn to! Seems I was doing a kind of Taoist meditation all along and not known it! Pretty mind blowing. Thank you both!

I've found that finding a droning sound to listen to by earphones or such and becoming wrapped within that sound is the fastest way to feel completely empty and to begin to forget my body and space. The breath very naturally slows easily within minutes. I've had many an hour or two long session like this and a few experiences coming back from meditation with a very detached but samadhi- like experience following for hours after.

"Calm Heart - Harmonious Energy" effectively the meaning of the Chinese phrase Master Gu spoke of. That is, when one is "Calm", i.e. mindful of own Thoughts and emotions, mindful of own Reactions to everything, minds what one 'feels', then, the Result is a "Harmonious Flow of Energy", the Life force, the Chi. Then, Health, Happiness, and Well-being - come as a Result.

Just take care. It's incredibly difficult to translate (as the meaning of every sentence is implicit) and there are some 150+ versions in English and each of them are wildly different and none of them 100% correct (there isn't even an original in Chinese). Take it as a thought-provoking piece of work, but don't take it as gospel.

Funny, I've been doing this for years since I was young because it made me feel good and it felt natural. Btw, I'm 14. I haven't done this in a long time and because of that I feel imbalanced and closed from nature. I plan on going outside tomorrow to meditate.

Having subtitles (CC) on really helps understand this video. There is such incredible truth in this video. If meditation is forced, it always, always fails. Because force is against the Way, the Tao.
