Watch this video to learn how to MED SPIN
Med Spin combines a mohawk transition with a mono roll and a fakie 360. Med Spins can be done on flat ground, off a set of stairs or off a ramp.
A med spin is a forward to back transition on to one foot. From the backwards back one foot position you jump around 180 or 360 degrees.
When learning a med spin first you will need to be able to skate forward, backward, transition from forward to back and be able to jump.
When I was first learning this trick I was very confused on which foot I should be rolling backwards on. Here is the rule - If you are spinning to your LEFT you should be rolling backwards on your LEFT foot. If you are spinning to your RIGHT you should be rolling backwards on your RIGHT foot.
The following instructions are for doing the med spin turning to your left. Opposite apply for turning to your right.
From a forward ready position place weight on your right foot lifting your left foot. Turn your left foot 180 degrees to back wards position. Place weight on your left foot and lift up right foot. Continue rotating to your left. As your head begins to face forward hop on your left foot continuing the spin.
Shaun

I love that you filmed this for us in your shop. Actually easier to follow that way. I know that you'd need more space for complex moves, but if you could do an introductory series in your shop this winter, we'd appreciate it greatly. Mahalo. 🤘🏼

Hey man! thank u for your tutorials videos. I’m from Brazil and there’s not many urban skaters where I live. So you’re helping me a lot to getting better! congratulations! I’d like to ask you if you can suggest me a good kind of wheels to slide. By now I’m using 83A wheels. Do you think I need more hardness wheels? Thanks again!

I miss Bryan Bell. The world is not the same without him. He was always one of my favourite skaters. He posted his phone number in Daily Bread Magazine when Street Dwellerz was released. I phoned him and he phoned me back. We talked for 30min about skating and he told me about a young up and comer named Chris Haffey.

Update: Even better on aggressive skates is a med spin transition to either a backside makio (keep grabbing your leg and grind backwards on your soul foot) from a complete rotation or a backslide (keep grabbing your leg and grind on the h-block/groove block in a 'torque') from a partial rotation.
