This is by far the best channel for drafting a pattern to fit YOURSELF!!! I was having difficulty with the armhole being wayyyyy to big on other channels😐😒its like they were taking average fashion industry standard numbers and mixing it with their personal measurements. Its cool if it works for them but I can't take the fiddly calculations, hard work all to no avail. Thank you young lady for making my clothes FINALLY!!! fit properly😍

Perfect video! I'm very short and standard clothes from stores never fit me vertically. Everything is too long for me. My bust line and waist line are considerably higher than those standard measurements. That's why I've finally decided to sew something myself. I've already watched several tutorials but you are the first one who considers ACTUAL vertical lengths instead of using standards. THANK YOU!

Thank you so much! The tunics you made were beautiful! If people are very plus size like me (woman's size UK34/USA 30 or higher), 1/2 the pattern front may exceed the width of 1/2 the paper so I don't fold the paper when drafting. We also need more "ease" so I find having a bit more seam allowance (4 inches total seam allowance) helps me adjust where extra ease is needed. I use this in addition to the standard ease. For pants, my stomach really expands when I sit so I take that hip measurement standing and seated. Mine is 8 inches different!

I’ve also often run into the issue of low mobility in the shoulder area. I have rather broad shoulders and women’s fashion(my preferred style) isn’t often suited for people with broad shoulders. I usually have to size up for the shoulders to be at all comfortable. Being able to wear clothes that fit the way I want them to is one of the many reasons I started sewing clothes. Thank you for this very informative video! It’s helped a lot in my journey to make an organza blouse for an outfit I’m putting together!! Much love!! ❤❤❤

I’ve just come across your channel, I’m pleasantly surprised at the method you used here, I’m from Trinidad, I did a 6 months basic pattern designing course well over 36 or more years ago, had an extra ordinary teacher, Ms Rita Augustine, this was exactly the way she taught me to do body measurements, never fails, but seldom seen demonstrated on these teaching videos these days; so I’m pleasantly surprised, and very elated to come across your channel, I’m going to revive my sewing skills, thanks to you, have not sewn in years..❤

Thank you for sharing! Your teaching style of how to make your own pattern blocks can’t be beat. There are some decent tutorials out there but they all like to include instructions for standard sizing. You really broke the mold and made it just click for me by using my own measurements. I had so much fun creating my first bodice block. The only thing I need to tweak are the darts since I have a much fuller bust. So I’m on the hunt for how to do a full bust adjustment soon. ❤

What a delightful teacher you are, nice pace and eloquent and clear instructions. Made my list and sketch and will do the measuring (ugh no hiding from Mr honest tape measure!) Splendid video. I have got a massive roll of parcel paper too. Thank you so much. Can’t wait to start doing my own designs.

I don’t think I’ve ever commented on a video on KZread in my life before. I am not a commenter. But I had to comment on this one. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You are amazing and have brought absolute joy to my life. I can now FINALLY figure out how to make my own clothes for myself and it only took a few minutes of your video for me to realize what I’ve been doing wrong this whole time. God bless you!! Subscribed, thank you so much :)

WOW! what an amazing step by step. I am a beginner, and want to design my own clothing. Its hard to use commercial patterns due to my large bust. I've only made a few so far, and each pattern i keep having to adjust the bust tremendously, and then it just ends up adding way too much work. I made this in one try! I can't express how helpful this was and how thankful that i found your video. Please make more pattern videos!!!!!!

Do you know that I have a lot to do before I can start drafting...hence purge the house so I can get flat surfaces! But did you also know that you are the first person (at least that I know of in multiple videos I have watched in last week) that has given great simple instructions on taking measurements. This is super helpful. I am having problems staying focused though cuz Netflix beckons me...so I will be back for the rest of your video somewhere in next few days. Thank you!
