I do the same! I do tend to wear a lot more solid, black & neutral colors, but If I have a bright floral(or design) on top of a neutral, I will sometimes pick a few colors out of that floral design, and play off that. Depending how florally it is, of course. The main time I will do that is if the floral patterns are spaced apart. I definitely agree that wearing neutrals gives you SO many options, (which is probably why I wear them the most lol) but if I'm ever in doubt, I go with neutrals, or I play off of my eye and hair color.

I agree with your hints and I also agree with your opinion that, basically, do what makes you happy. I work in a very conservative environment and our dress code is black, black, black and ,on a very adventurous day , maybe dark grey or navy. I usually go quite wild with my eyeshadow to give a bit of personality to my look..... Works for me!

huh, interesting... I've never considered that, I don't know if I'm that colourful a person - I'd probably feel compelled to match a neutral or black outfit with a more colourful look, but then a colourful outfit with a neutral look. I typically just go by style - if I'm wearing a casual outfit I'll do a simple glowy look, if I'm wearing something very classic I'll most likely just pop on a red lip and call it a day, if I'm wearing something dark with a modern silhouette... that's when I usually do colourful eye looks. I do sometimes like to match a red clothing item with a red lip of the same shade though. Maybe it's time to step out of my comfort zone and try something new!

This is such a great tip! I've still been trying to get the hang of using complementary colors in clothing (I stick to neutrals a lot😉) but I never really thought of the same concept with eyeshadow!

A method I like using is using warm/warm or cool/cool. Like burnt orange eye shadow with a brown sweater. Or blue eye shadow with a violet top. The warm/cool or cool/warm is good for contrast. Like navy blue eye shadow with a brown sweater.

i love pairing browns with blacks. i love the combination of sharp (black) with the subtle (brown). thank you for the video zabrena!

Yeah! This! I always end up wearing KvD Bow n Arrow with most eyeshadow looks because I find it hard to match! I'd love to know what goes with pink and red lips.

SOOOOOO helpful!! I have a wedding to go to soon and am wearing a maroon dress and didn't want to do a dark smokey eye cos I'm doing silver shoes and bag. I'm thinking a bronze instead of black just a hint of green (under eye maybe?) and silver on my inner corners - will have to do wear tests to see but this has just made the next month sooo much easier for me!! love the tips. I wear alot of blue, but I'm not exactly sure I'm going to be pulling off orange eye shadow or yellow. Both these colors are not in my season I'm a cool summer so I'm going to have to stick with greys, pink, purples, some blues- easy on those they tend to make me look like I have a black eye. I recommend a color consultation at a salon to find the colors best for you. Zabrena I loved the yellow (which you can pull off) with the purple very stunning.

Hi Z. Fun video, thanx! I have a tendency to go w/complimentary opposites depending on my eye color (contacts) on a particular day which works great, but this is a really fun way to change things up some! Think I'll try this out today!

I love this for stepping out of my neutral eye shadows comfort zone, thanks Zabrena. I also keep warm shadows with warm colored clothing, and the same for cooler colored clothing and eye shadow. It helps me wear some colored clothing without it washing me out.

This also work the opposite way. If I have gone overboard with my shadows, I can tone them down by wearing the same shade top. I like crazy eyeshadow looks so I do that alot!

Love this video and I'm definitely going to be thinking about the color wheel more in the mornings! For me personally, I've simplified your idea down in my "not quite awake morning brain" even further. Warm colored top - cooler toned eye. Cooler toned top - warmer toned eye.

I believe complimentary (something given free of charge) is different from complementary (constituting one of a pair such as complementary angles, colors, etc.) 😊 I just spotted the write up on the upper left and it can be quite confusing to use such terms interchangeably.

im usually neutrals. and depending on what my outfit is, ill either go for warm toned nuetrals or cool toned
