    Yall all these effects are doing is making your beat loud enough. You still want to make sure there is headroom. Mastering a song with vocals and everything is very different!! Don't get confused, thinking this is the process to master FULL SONGS. This is just a process to get your beats loud enough for a rapper to want to rap on it. A lot of people in the comments Gate Keeping, saying you have to do this or have to do that. Just do what sounds good to your ears. 💯

    With a 7.6:1 ratio, you're basically limiting at that point. So it's not really gluing it's more for catching peaks. To get that glue you're looking for a 1.5:1 or 2:1 ratio.

    Nice!! I’ll try this out next time. When I cook up, I just leave a soft clipper on with the default preset, so I don’t blow my monitors accidentally with any super loud sounds. Lately, I’ve been using Maximus with one of the mastering presets just to make my 808 more full and distorted, but not too much. But I noticed my waveforms after exporting were almost capped. I don’t want to make it too loud that I blow out someone else’s speakers. Lol!

  • @JayPhatty

    Maximus is great! It's all about using it sparingly. It's really all about the mix! Phor beats, mastering shouldn't be complicated. It just needs to be loud enough. Phor mastering songs however, that is a different process in itself

  • @JayPhatty

    @JayPhatty

    Жыл бұрын

    You don't need a eq every single time, only use it if you really need to make subtle changes. And it depends cuz every voice is different, and it depends if the frequencies are clashing. I'd say just use an eq with a plan of action, don't aimlessly throw it on everything (like I used to do.) Understand what frequencies may be clashing and what needs bumped or lowered.

    Thank you for your tutorials man . So usually when i have an artist on my beat , ive almost always send them the low version of the beat with about -3 to -6db of headroom without anything on my master bus i would try to get the mix as best i could within each mixer channel, once i would get the beat sent back with the vocals on it then i would process the master to bring to loudness with a limiter at the end. But for just beat making and to post on beatstars, youtube ect for potential artist when you say to have loud enough how loud are we talking in terms of LUFS or headroom left? And sorry for the long post man, just wanted some clarification.

    It baffles me how many “producers” will just disable the ceiling before even messing with the attack and release times to get the sound they want. Not to mention how many free plugins can soft clip much better than the saturation or the stock soft clip plugin. This is why you guys will fade away, nothing but followers following followers. If you read this comment and get offended you will be forgotten. If you find truth in it you have a chance.

  • @JayPhatty

    @JayPhatty

    Жыл бұрын

    Man! That sounds very subjective. I'm disabling the ceiling because I don't like how it cuts the transients compared to the sat knob. Now, if this was a phull song, the chain would be different, but this is just showing how to get your beats loud enough. Especially if you have good sound selection, you don't need to do much. Now, the fruity soft clipper works wonders being used like this. There are definitely good soft clip plugins, but you don't need them if you know how to use what you got. I hope you try and open your mind a bit and not try to gate keep the process phor other producers. 💯
