Nice, clear presentation. Thanks! One tip that I've discovered in other editors (still learning DaVinci) is if you do the first keyframe and then the last frame before doing the rest you sometimes need fewer keyframes. 😃

Resolve still overall better than Premiere and way more reliable, but I hate that Resolve overcomplicates things like this that Premiere can do in two clicks. (Opacity>Mask in Effect Controls) Also.... Can't apply softness to all keyframes? WHoops lol. Just wasted a bunch of time setting 50 keyframes and now have to go back and copy softness settings. WHY

Don't wait till the very end to add the softness like he explained. "go back and add softness to each keyframe.." I had like 30 keyframes and had to restart from the beginning. Add the softness in the beginning, and check how it looks before continuing to the next keyframe. Also I'm not sure if cutting a clip in half, and setting the second half 2x as fast as the first half is considered a "speed ramp." A speed ramp is a dynamic increase in speed. To do this you would have to right click and use the "retime curve" feature.

Wish you would explain why we click certain icons and what they do instead of just telling us to click it. Helps us understand why we're doing it

2:19 he is talking about the power windows tab. Any of the tools in this tab can be used to mask objects. He chooses the pen tool which is normally best for intricate masks that will involve more complex shapes. The icon to the right that he clicks inverts the mask. If he did not click that the clip underneath would show up everywhere the mask wasn’t. This way the clip underneath shows up only where he applied the mask.

this is a nice tutorial but it is actually recommending to it the effect way harder than it should be. you don't have to add softness to every keyframe if you just do it to the whole clip, that's how I do it and it works the same way.

It's weird how davinci has these obscure workflows for simple things. Makes me want to switch back to premiere. Overlays, matte painting, Ease in and out, transform and text are absolute awful with Davinci.
