How To Map Out A Year's Worth Of Content In One Day

►► 4 Steps to Earn $1000/mo of Passive Income In Just 30 Minutes A Day. Free Workshop → GrahamCochrane.com/workshop
I used to scramble for content ideas for my business.
I’d sit at my computer staring at a blank screen waiting for a good video or blog post idea to come.
Basically I was "winging" my content strategy (if you can call that a strategy) and I hated every minute of it.
I've since changed my ways.
These days I actually map out a year's worth of content in advance. That's right - 12 months of content - all pre planned out before the year begins.
And the best part? I do this all in one day.
Today I want to show you how you can do the same.
If you do this one exercise - just ONCE A YEAR - you will have more quality and consistent content for your brand and you'll remove virtually all of the stress involved in planning it out.

I did this strategy tonight and now have 56 content ideas. Not sure if they are all good ones, but it is a start and an excellent way to take the pressure off. Now all I need to do is batch produce this content :). You are my virtual coach! Thank you.

I can pick up the points more easily than in comparison with the hyper pace of other videos that provide lots of information but at frenzied pace. A big advantage of writing a list of ideas in advance is that you can order them by quality, do the one at the top and as you add more, you never get to the ones at the bottom. Otherwise you would be implementing substandard ideas, but you are only doing the most awesome ones instead.

Loved this content Graham! Thanks for sharing your insights. AsI listened and started mapping out my contents buckets, I realized it’s hard to narrow them down to just 4-5 - I came up with about 12-15 bucket ideas. Question: What’s the best way to find out what my clients (and prospects) want to know? Thanks for the feedback.

Great question. Short answer: just ask. Long answer: it takes time to get super clear on that but the more you engage your audience the more you'll find out what they truly care about. Could be asking on social media, via email, in a video, etc.

Hey Graham. I'm a wedding photographer with my wife. We want to start a podcast as a content stream as we are moving into the digital product market for teaching photography. While the digital products will be focussed on teaching photo and video, I don't want the podcast to about more than that. Being a good photographer means experiencing the fullness of life along the way, and so while we travel, run our wedding business, try new food, work on ourselves and our relationship, all these aspects connect to photography. When I made a list of my content buckets they felt a little all over the place. - Travelling - Personal Photography - Home Video - Weddings - Relationships Do you think all these buckets could cohesively fit under one content stream? Thanks for your help!

I’m sorry if I missed this in the beginning, but are these buckets within one niche? In this video you include content creators other than business owners but for someone like me who is in the process of really narrowing down my business, I’m still without one or one particular niche yet. So in my case when I hear you refer to content buckets I think of making cannabis content, speaking on blockchain, recycled gaming content from my livestreams and oh I don’t know, vlogging. Do you see what I’m asking, because I’m not sure I’m making sense? Like in my context would I be choosing one niche, cannabis for example, and then 4 buckets within that (like cooking, reviewing, the science behind it, gaming content under the influence)? Sorry for this being a long winded comment, I just need some clarity because I would love to implement this. It’s the only question I have to the exact answer I’ve been having in my head lately: “how do I make content for more than just today or next week” Thanks man, and great content as always from what I’ve seen!

Just some constructive criticism: You take SO long to get to the point.... it's painful!! Lol You have a good message and good tips, but I would watch them a lot more if you got to the point faster... I am sure I can't be the only one that feels like this. Remember the Value equation... the longer it takes for you to give me "the thing" the lesson, the tips, whatever... the less valuable the lesson becomes.
