Very informative, im invested in this series. I own an MK4, GTI, AUM engine. 2002 model, they swapped an auto to manual but did a horrible job so im just here learning

Anybody know a place that sells a kit in the US?

Will a 2000 2.0 manual transmission work for an automatic 2004 1.8t?

I have a 2000 Jetta tdi I bought with a autotragic trans I also have a 2004 Jetta 1.8t with a 5 speed manual and an extra 6 speed manual I would like to kill the 1.8t Jetta cause of rust and use the 1.8t trans in the tdi I hope it works

Nice. I know all the 4 cylinder transmissions bolt right up. I think the only difference is the gear ratios. I assume the 1.8 will prolly have higher top speed gears for 5th.

Was the donor car a gas engine car? If the standard transmission was from a gas engine car, are the ratios in the transmission different in 5th gear?

It was a TDI also. I believe the gear ratios are different for the gas. It should still work but I think you will get worse mpg because the gas doesn’t have as much torque.

Do you not need a new ecu ?? I’d assume you would have to change the ecu to a manual trans one

For the diesel you do not. Gasoline, yes
