How To Make Your RC Go 100mph With Stock Electronics (Arrma Typhon 6s)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After making my last Arrma Typhon 6s video I was asked by a lot of people how I was able to make my stock electronics rc go over 100mph. I made this to help you do it too!
I decided to make a video answering all the questions on how exactly I made it to 100mph. I made a lot of mistakes along the way so this video is the culmination of everything I learned in order to help you reach 100mph faster than I did.
Like I said in the video, tag me in some of your 100+mph runs and let me know if this video helped you!
The receiver I use - amzn.to/3fmdcxl
The remote I use - amzn.to/3fqRQ2d

@@MikeStallone I'm currently looking at buying something arrma for speed running.. i was thinking the typhon 6s v4.. all in cost £459 UK, maybe stretch it eventually. But the limitless does look super cool but its just under £400 as a roller. What would you recommend? I'm leaning towards the typhon as its rtr lol

rmalik84s3 Thats a hard decision. I actually have both cars! If you’re only going to do speed running/street bashing I’d go limitless hands down. If you want to keep costs low you can get a used stock blx 185 system and a power hd 23kg servo. That’s what I’m running in my limitless and I’m consistently getting over 90mph speed runs. On the other hand I love my typhon because it’s so versatile.. I send it to the moon off jumps and then with a pinion, spur and wheel change I can run over 100mph. So I’m my opinion. Strictly street use get a limitless or infraction. For versatility/RTR get the typhon. Either way you can’t go wrong!

Awesome tips bro, I can't wait to get back to doing some runs again. That's the same battery I use, it's freaking awesome!! I have modified my Typhon 6S a bit myself & it rides soo much better now. I did swap out the ESC for a Castle creations MM2, with the addition of my own custom cap pack. Also swapped out the receiver for a Radiolink RC4GS, much better range. Like you, I dropped the suspension low by using the droop screws. I did swap out the springs for Tekno springs, way better handling now, the original I found to be a tad too soft considering the weight of car. Running the stock diffs & using a 26T pinion (modified to fit), i was able to push 70mph. I was using GRP Tyres, S4 compound. The car completely stock with the included high speed gear was only able to achieve 65mph. Which I guess is close enough to their advertised 70mph out of the box. It's definitely an awesome ride with tons of potential! Awesome job 👍

@@MikeStallone wow, I just came across this video again a year later lol. Since then, I have finally broken the 100mph line, up to 122mph so far on my Limitless. And the Typhon 6S I originally commented on above, I have recently done a serious overhaul rebuild & stretched her out with a kraton 6S chassis. I put limitless shocks & tower on the front. I made some custom aluminum side skirts, rotated the motor mount. I have an XLX2 ESC in her with a hobbywing 2200kv motor till my castle 1721 2400kv motor gets in. Running a 34/34 gearing with the 2200kv motor & only 4S, she hit 89mph. I'm going to run her on 6S before I put in the new motor in, she'll definitely push over 100mph easily. But my goal with the new motor, the Castle 1721 2400kv, is to get her into the ~120mph on 4S. Hope you're still running & pushing the limits on speed! 😎👍

That’s awesome about your pb with the infraction. I’m not sure those batteries will fit the stock trays in the typhon but you can give it a try. I would start speed running the car with the stock 20t speed pinion first, then bump to 24t pinion. And get the car dialed in. Then once it’s going straight throw in the spool from the limitless and the 27t pinion. But with this setup you really need a long road and the ability to get on the throttle very slowly or the esc will cut out.

Thanks for the support and great question! I’ve heard of people making rustlers fly! Candidly, I have never used one so I don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction. It sounds like you did all great things. Maybe once you get a stronger suspension just add lipos and that’ll increase your speed a lot! Sorry I couldn’t be more of a help but I don’t want to give you advice unless I’m confident about it!

Mike Stallone that’s ok, I understand👍 thanks anyway mate. I haven’t used it at full power yet... because I run nimhs, low voltage cutoff has been a problem🤣 it comes with it set at 3.1v and as soon as I plug the nimhs in, it goes into cutoff, I’ve had it at 50mph in low voltage cutoff, so I’m guessing once I’ve got new tyres, and got the programming card to turn lvd off, I should be knocking on the doors of 80mph? It’s got 47.5k rpm and I run 17-50 gearing. A vxl rustler with 38k rpm does 75mph on similar gearing... so another 10k rpm and more torque... shouldn’t that lead to it being much much faster?🤣

Car Addiction wow you’ll get there soon! My best recommendation then would be to find a good road with A LOT of space. And take your time getting to full throttle. Pull the throttle as slow as you possibly can. I’m usually not even 3/4 throttle by the time I pass me. That should help get more speed out of that setup. Sounds like you’re on the right track man! Let me know how it goes!

Good info. Did you have to buy an aftermarket motor mount to accommodate the bigger pinion? I've got a stock 6s Typhon that I'm gunna set up for speed runs. Not going to go too crazy for now. I'm going to bump up the pinion to 23 and drop the spur down to a 42. Not quite as aggressive as the gears you're running, but I figure the car will be 80+ mph with ease on gears like that. I have a Rustler that I put a Mamba Monster in with a 2200kv Castle motor lol. It is stupidly overpowered to say the least and definitely a challenge to drive once the motor starts waking up when making a pass. I like the AWD platform of the Typhon and bought mine a couple years ago with future speed runs in mind. Thanks again for the good info and God bless you.

I put the v4 motor mount on this car because it’s the v3. Otherwise the stock fits all the gearing this setup can handle! 23/42 should be 80mph gearing! Good luck!! Why do people wanna ruin their cars torque for excess speed that U can't even use. It's not how fast you go it's how quick you get there. I keep my Vorza on 15/48, gives me 50mph which is plenty of speed, but torque is insane and that's what U want, trigger it n watch it fly instantly. Bashing RCS you'll never hit top speed it's just not worth losing your torque for...

  • @MikeStallone

    @MikeStallone

    3 жыл бұрын

It’s all personal preference. I have other rc’s I bash with that I would never use this gearing in for the reasons you mentioned. However when it comes to my speed cars, I build them to hit the highest possible speed and that is what I like to do with them. Saying someone is ruining their rc car because they’re doing something YOU don’t like makes no sense. 50mph may be fast for what you like, but it’s actually extremely slow for a speed car. Just food for thought next time you try to bash on others for enjoying the hobby in a different way than you do.
