If you have a heavy plant, yes. I ziptie mine to the inside wall of the moss ploes. My monsteras would flop over without the support.

Pvc coated hardware mesh or you can use plastic chicken wires it’s cheaper i guess..

I bought it from Dollar Tree it is called chopping mats. And yes it helps hold the moisture since the other side will not be exposed to air.

@@thegreenearth thank you for the input I am definitely going to try it. I just created my first two poles and living in FL the moss dries out overnight. I'm afraid if I keep watering the moss the water that goes towards the bottom will create root rot in my plants. I appreciate the feedback

You can do this without all the plastic too though. I'm really saddened by how much plastic is used in indoor gardening. We love green, but the things we use are encouraging the destruction of naturally green spaces and deteriorating our own health in very subversive ways.

Those are soft plastic garden fencing. They come in rolls of black or green. Any mesh material works for climbers.

you have to use plant stakes to stabilized them
Too much plastic.
My experience is that these plastic moss poles are a no no... They tend to bend with time, no matter if they hay a stick. Beter metal/plastic covered mesh...

That moss looks filthy. What brand is it? Besgrow sphagnum moss is so pretty and holds moisture longer.
