When pulling together a bridal sash, you have many choices. You can order from China, I have done that! But the appliques often arrive damaged or cheaply made. They also take a loooong time to get here. You can go the most expensive route and just buy a name brand sash from a bridal gown manufacturer. Those are often great quality, but they can get really expensive. I've seen those first hand as well. Over the years, I have found a source that has proven to be the middle of the road for me- great quality, yet affordable, with fast shipping, ( they ship out the same day in most cases!) Check out the video above to learn more about the source that I like to use for beautiful rhinestone appliques!

    I’d love to see a better picture of how you hang your veils. I have mine on the combs like that but not happy all in all with how they look. I keep trying different ways to fold them and clip them. Love the idea of hanging the sashes on the veil clips!! Never thought of that for some reason. :)

    Before I started doing alterations out of my own studio - I worked at an off the rack bridal store sewing the dresses - off the rack dresses get pretty abused. But the owner had me sewing these sash belts every week, and she would price them from $100-150- I couldn't believe it. I haven't thought of offering these myself, but why not? Also - something else I did was remove the appliques that came in on dresses, sew them onto ribbon - and then we would sell those too! She was pretty savvy. Great video! Thank you!

    At first, I avoided offering accessories for sale, because I didn't want to feel like a bridal salon sales trap. Eventually, I saw that brides are really wanting these belts and actively looking for them, and they love the convenience of trying them on while in their dress. I caved and began offering these out of service to my customers. They are very happy with having the option to buy accessories.

    I think its great! I have repaired veils - but making them and displaying them seems intimidating. We used to sell En Vogue veils - I think they are reasonably priced for their quality - but I have no idea about how I could set up an account - but I have considered it.

    michelle harris if you have the time, make your own veils. The components for them are relatively inexpensive if purchased separately and they aren’t super labor intensive depending on the styles. But finished they retail for high dollar amounts. Small investment of time and money with extremely high return. Once your brides find out that you have and/or offer them, especially custom, sales will go through the roof! Cheers!

    Muy lindas las aplicaciones y el listón pero creo que el acabado final, o sea, la costura a mano expuesta por el revés y poco prolija le resta calidad a la pieza ya terminada.

    I love your videos. I am wondering if you think it is a good idea to add multiple appliques to make one long belt that will be sewn onto a wedding dress? I would like a larger width applique for the center piece (maybe 3-5 inches) and smaller 1" for the remainder of the belt. I hope this makes sense.

    It will depend upon where you live and the expenses you put into them. There are a few different approaches. Any of the following should work. Just pick your fave and try it out! :) 1)Price neck and neck with local bridal salons. They are your allies, you don't want to undercut them. 2) Add up all the supply cost for a particular sash. Factor in your labor, (time it takes to make it.) Take that number and double it. That's your price. The doubling factors in overhead cost, plus value of your skill, design, taste, and potential loss of profit due to damage or price reduction over time. 3) Pick a price that thoroughly covers the materials expenses plus needed profit of just about any sash you offer. Price all sashes the exact same. (Say, $75?) That way there's less guesswork for you, your employees, and your clients. (This is what I do. I like to keep things simple.) With this method, a single pricing sign will do. You don't have to individually tag or keep an eye on dishonest customers who seek to swap price tags.

    I have done that in a couple of mine. I actually buy 9x15 sheets of actual rhinestones on a hotfix sheet. They are spaces closer together than the one here and full of shine. This way I cut whatever I need off the sheet. I have been importing stones and chain for years and these sheets are my favorite plus they come in colors so they can be used for bridesmaids sashes. They are stunning. You’d love them

    LOVE your videos!! Question...how do you properly shorten one of these beautiful beaded appliques without ruining it? I recently purchased a 37 1/2 inch fully glass beaded belt from Glory's House, but my waist is a few inches slimmer at 35 inches. I'm afraid to simply cut off the extra beading since the glass beads appear to be sewn on between the layers of fabric and backing. Will beads fall off, or is it safe to just cut 1 1/4 inch off of each end and attach to a ribbon as you have shown? Thanks!

  • @BridalSewing

    @BridalSewing

    4 жыл бұрын

    Just cut it off in a delicate way, tracing the pattern of the beads. Any cut stitches at that point should be sealed with hypo cement. (I demo the cement in many vids & a link is on the products page of my website.) Then, any very loose beads should be stitched down, using a beading needle.
