Now am bit confused because the videos I have watched till date they say the correct way of using Guasha over the neck and shoulder area is in upward direction but you're saying to use in downward direction over neck and shoulder....

If my face swells up doing this, what am I doing wrong? Should I be more gentle? Should I pay more attention to neck work?

  • @piccadilly171

The face should never swell up after Gua Sha! I hope by now you have stopped using the facial product you were using for the glide? It could be that you are allergic to it. I use Empress Oil (by Wildling) which is only pure botanical oils, but it is a bit pricey for me and I also use organic argan oil. You can use any very good quality oil that your skin loves, rosehip seed oil. Always check that it is pure with no added perfume or preservatives etc.

@@piccadilly171 thank you for replying 🌻 It’s not an allergic swelling, it’s kinda like... Water retention? I use jojoba oil which my skin loves, so I don't think it’s that. I am diagnosed with qi stagnation though and I'm wondering if it’s that and it might be best to do my body first so that my face drains properly. 🤔

@@angeliqueroux3017 Hello. I have a book called 'Gua Sha -A complete Self-Treatment Guide' by Clive Witham (he also has some KZread videos). The book has detailed instructions, explanations and cautions (with pictures). If you follow facial Gua Sha exactly in the sequence and pressure recommended, I really believe it will solve qi stagnation and prevent any bloating. Better-still treat yourself to a qualified facial gua sha? (If I was close to you I would offer to do it on you as a friend).

Before I spent money on my Gua Sha tool I used a stainless steel desert spoon, with edges that were more rounded and comfortable scraping along my skin. IT WORKED! The actual Gua Sha tool is shaped better to hug the jawline, cheek bone etc. It is absolutely worth your time doing it. As well as the amazing skin benefits, it is physically very relaxing and also causes ‘emotional happiness’. I think you should just try it and note the affects it has on you.
