How to make Wonder Woman Cosplay Armor - Wonder Woman Breastplate | Cosplay Apprentice
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
You would never believe this was made out of gym floor mats (EVA Foam)!! It looks amazing and is super easy to make. If you are wanting to make your own Wonder Woman Costume, this is a great way to make it happen and have it look amazing! I walk you through the whole process from creating the pattern for the breastplate to make it fit you and your body shape all the way to painting it!
In this apprenticeship, You'll discover how to make Wonder Woman's Breastplate Armor from the live action Wonder Woman films! Made simply out of EVA floor mat foam and contact cement! I may not have the right to make a tutorial on how to make female cosplay armor given that I am man, that inadequacy is only exponentiated by the fact that it is for Wonder Woman who comes from a land without men. ;) Please accept my humble effort to make this beautiful costume!
Whether you are making Wonder Woman's Costume from the first movie or the 1984 movie then this video will be a great refrerence for you!

Although I may be un-qualified I do think this armor turned out super super AWESOME!!!!!
This build is made of easy to obtain materials like Floor mat foam, and craft foam, and takes minimal tools like a razor blade and some sand paper. It could easily be done in a small apartment or room. No need for a fancy workshop!
If you make this build, comment and tell me about it and please send me pictures, I would love to see them and hear about it!

Muito obrigado por esse tutorial! Normalmente é muito difícil ver canais estrangeiros com legendas! Era exatamente o que eu precisava!💗
I love how you burn in the designs rather than cutting out individual foam pieces to glue on. It looks so much cleaner and is less to stress about!!!

+Nikky Cu Yay! I'm so glad I could help!!! :)
I have been using this tutorial for my costume and it's turning out really well! One thing I will say, I used the same paint listed in the materials (Dupli-color Metalcast Anondized coating), and it did NOT show up over black. So, what I did was a layer of silver spray paint (which shows up well on black) and then did the Dupli-color over that. It's even better if your coat of silver isn't totally solid- this adds some really cool dimension to the armor. But I had to go get another can of the Dupli-color just because I tried it over black and it didn't work, and this stuff isn't cheap.
I wish I were this awesome! She looks great!!!!

This is amazing!! Can't wait to make this myself for the premiere. Just a quick question....Can a foam yoga mat be used instead of a floor mat?
@CosplayApprentice
7 жыл бұрын
+Guineapig108 Thanks! Great question! I think that you should be able to use a foam yoga mat instead, that might work pretty well actually, you just don't want it to be too flimsy of a foam or it might have a hard time keeping its shape. :)
cool. was going to use card board
If decide do Batgirl, can do 52 one?
How do you transfer the markings from the painter's tape to the foam? As well, do you have any templates for the belt and eagle detail?
So, odd question. When you mention adding some flattening plastic to help with the holes, which I didn't think of and that's genius... would Kydex be okay for that as well? I wasn't sure where to find plastic material!
@CosplayApprentice
6 жыл бұрын
I think you could use kydex for that as well, I don't know how expensive it is but if you've got it that should work. As long as it can flex/mold to the right shape :) if not there should be a link to the plastic I used in the description, as well as a link to a kit of all the materials I used on this build :)
Good job

Awesome tutorial! I have a question, say you were to use a satin or leather corset as the base and wanted to attach pieces of foam for the details, would contact cement still be the best thing to use to attach the foam to fabric? I was also wondering if you would be doing tutorials for the gauntlets, boots, sword and shield? Thanks again!
@CosplayApprentice
6 жыл бұрын
+Haley Ramos Thank you!! Great question, I am not sure with satin and leather but I have found contact cement to work pretty well with attaching foam to cloth, I usually do a second or third layer of the contact cement on the cloth depending on how absorbent the cloth is I have also had luck with spray adhesive. I haven't use satin or leather in particular for these though so if you have any way of doing some test pieces on a scrap piece of similar material that would be the best. I do have the video filmed for the guantlets and boots and lasso and Armband and I just need to edit them. And I have started on the sword and shield. :)
This is amazing!!!! I can't wait to try to make it! Do you by any chance have a replacement for a heat gun...could I use a hair dryer?
@CosplayApprentice
7 жыл бұрын
+RavenousRavenclaw Thanks! Most of the time a hair dryer doesnt get hot enough or it takes a long time to try and heat it up. You can get a heat gun for under $20 usually though online
Your so cool, also question-I have some plast dip but it’s white. Yours I saw was black, does it matter what color is or does it affect the actual paint colo
@CosplayApprentice
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! :) You can use whatever color you would like, I generally get black, so that is what I use :). White should work fine :). Thanks for watching!! How did you get your foam to have good accentuation and curve? mine came out completely flat and when i put it on it didnt even lace all the way. should i retry? what did i do wrong?

These foam armours look fantastic, but how well does the contact cement hold together when worn? Bending/twisting etc puts a lot of strain on seams. Do they ever pop apart?
@CosplayApprentice
7 жыл бұрын
+Mububban23 Thanks!! Great question! I was weary of is ability to hold as well before iused it. I did a test piece where i glued the two pieces together and then two of us played tug of war with it. The seam didn't budge. The foam is actually more likely to break first before the seam will. That being said, off there are pieces that will be in direct contact with you're skin and could consistently get sweat on it you will want to do something to protect the seams because sweat well corrode the glue. Hope that helps :)

First I LOVE this, you are super talented!!! Second you said that before painting you would want to put two coats of something, but I couldn't make out what you said?? Also I am going to be making this for an upcoming comic con any tips for a beginner on how to not fail?
@CosplayApprentice
7 жыл бұрын
+Olivia Naccarato Thanks!!! It's 2 coats of Plasti-dip. :) I would say the best thing to remember as a beginner is don't be afraid to mess up and have to fix mistakes or redo something completely, it happens to all of us, no matter how long we've been doing it :)
