@@watsonst04 100% best bed design for a expedite cargo van love the bunk bed design those foot support can withstand alot of weight I saw one similar to yours but it didn't have the heavy duty foot support, just one more thing the single bed design seems a bit low don't you think other than that it's perfect great build love it

@@nomadexpress , did you notice how close to the ceiling it was when folded away? To get it higher when deployed would require a more complicated system where it pivots out and up as it deploys. Take a look at the Sun-lite 21TH or Sun-Lite 24TH to see how their murphy bed deploys.
you could easily create a company selling this product. This is an excellent job - great welding work

Brilliant and so well explained, I needed a fold up bed in the nose of my horse float and everyone has said its not possible. I tried to explain my idea which was very similar to this and no one understood. Now I can show them, just need to learn to weld and no more putting up camp beds after a 10hr drive

It's possible as one design I had the bed on the V nose part.
Your ingenuity is mind blowing! Great job and keep up the great work!
Excellent design. One thing that would make putting the frame onto the hinges easier. Offset one of the posts so you can get one barrel started, just an 8th of an inch or so and then you can line up the other one and slide the whole thing on.
That is amazing! The way you did that just works so well! Thank you so much! I was thinking about bed placement and I didn't want a Murphy bed. With this DIY set up and the construction it opens up my mind. Thank you so much!!

My utility trailer has a similar hinge setup, and it was impossible to reattach the gate by myself UNTIL... I shortened one pin by half an inch. Now I can get the long pin side started, and then still have a small gap to get the second hinge inserted. FAR easier!!!

I like it! I’m not a welder, but I’m sure I can find someone near by. I’d need to make my bed fold out horizontally since I only have a 6’ ceiling but hey, that fine too, I’ve been looking at the “wood” kits, but I know that’s gonna be a lot more weight using lumber. Again, that’s for your detailed description AND sharing with all of us.

Awesome very nice, great information
Id put some steel plates under the hinges that make holding bed frame easier when you put back on hinges, if the frame can be set on the steel plates in line with hinges would make doing that by urself much easier, also on that bottom bunk, you could build a fold down back on it like a sofa back that can be folded up for a sofa back, then back down for a bed mode, but youd have have a matress that folds in half.
Great design(s)…, great fabrication.

This is a really good tutorial & I think that you've come up with really clever ideas. Another way to make figuring out where to place holes on long legs easier would be after you've measured from the edge, to drop a plumb line to try the angle & verify the hole placement.

Plumb line in a trailer? I would think a square would work better unless you know you have the trailer perfectly level front to back and side to side.
