HOW TO MAKE VINTAGE CLOTHING BIGGER, making a 1960's Lilly Pulitzer skirt larger || Make It Bigger
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I show you how to make a vintage skirt bigger. This skirt is from the 1960's by Lilly Pulitzer and has a large seam allowance, allowing me to open up the skirt from a 25" waist to a 28" waist.

Every Dang Thang! 😂 But…can I toss you a twist? Make it adjustable 😊❤
Watching this in 2024, youve relaxed with the camera now. We love to see your natural beautiful personality. Love you Mr and Mrs C ❤️
That is a beautiful skirt. I'm glad it was saved.
I bought two identical dresses, that were too small. Now I have to decide where to cut them to make one (very) large dress.
Love the skirt and it looks beautiful on you. Looking forward to more making videos with your marvelous witty comments. Working through your playlist again. XX
Pretty skirt.
Mens' pants tailoring using to have the center back seam sewn in one pass from the crotch up through the split waistband, with a very generous seam allowance. That way they were easily embiggenable. Our local Goodwill has gotten to where its prices for old used stuff is the same price as new.
Pretty skirt! Well done.
What a cute skirt!
That is such a cute skirt
I’m torn about this Goodwill situation. We have 2 very near our home. However, we don’t have any by the pound bins. 😢. The flip side of this is there are some rather affluent folks donating here. So far, I have found Coach coats and purses, Furs and Leathers from Wilson of California, Aigner boots, and a Versace dress and coat !!! The coats were the most expensive at $32. The beaded Versace ? $18 I’m thrilled to give these items a second chance at life and would literally cry to think an animal was destroyed for a coat to end up in a dump! At the same time, I long to find some vintage items or fabrics which may not be museum worthy, but should certainly be worth wearing. The entire situation has created a sense of bipolar disorder in an otherwise level mind.
Mom started my sewing journey with a seam ripper.
I love the outlet store! My husband and I were going to a wake and we were confident we could simulate respectability --except shoes. Our sneakers were old and ratty and not appropriate. But there was no money in the kitty and I will not wear plastic shoes! (Take care of your feet and they'll take care of you.). Outlet store to the rescue! Bob found a pair of BRAND NEW Rockport penny loafers, a little big but he wasn't planning to run in them. I found grey suede mules, not too high, works with anything. Total cost for both pairs: $1.39 including sales tax. Time expenditure: 20 minutes, including 10 minutes driving. God bless Goodwill Industries! --Teresa

Goodwill outlets are the best if you are willing to dig a little. So glad you found some good shoes!
Love your attitude on fast fashion, I've never heard of buying clothes by weight. (I'm in New Zealand though )
Beautiful!

Thank you!
i love blue roses lol.. had my flower girls wearing dresses with blue roses hahaha
Lol “you always wave with your right hand” WEIRDLY SPECIFIC 😂😂😂 this is why I use both hands. Never have to remember which hand I use. Also yay for this video! I am a big fan of altering vintage to be bigger, cuz... even at a 32 waist it was sure hard to find.

I know, it threw me off for a second. But it was also really funny, too. I am digging this series already *digs through closet to see hat else I can alter*.
Great job! I love going to the bins! Do you finish your seams to match with the original ones that are still there?

I do my best to match the seam style when I fix up garments. However, on this one, since all the original seams on this one were pulled out I just went with the plain old straight stitch.
I think the reason there are more small vintage clothes is because the owner, maybe a teenager, out grew them before they wore out.
I have a Liberty of London fetish, and a Walmart budget. So, I bought two Liberty for Target tops, very cheaply, off a resale site. My plan is to combine a S and an L to make a 1X. That sounds doable, right?

Yes!!
Never seen anyone re-stitch a garment because it's too big. Usually a belt works...
