How to Make: Veteran's Memorial Flag Display Case

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This past April my father-in-law, Leo, passed away. Leo was a Captain in the US Navy and spent the majority of his life serving this Country. The family members asked if I could make a display case for his Memorial Flag, and I was honored to do so. While I was at it, I decided to make another one for my Uncle Al who served as a paratrooper for the US Army in the 1950s and passed away in 2014. I decided to inlay yellow heart wood strips to represent their military rankings.
I would like to Thank both of these men for their years of service, as well as all the men and women who have and continue to serve our Country.
The folding of the flag is a ceremony honoring the passed veteran. There are twelve fold , each representing something. From eternal life to In God we trust. Once the flag is folded it should remain folded. So making a nice case for the flag is a good way to keep it. The case will allow you to display it and at the same time protect it . So if you have a friend or family member with a flag without a case , make them one. They will be grateful.

    Thank you. I'm looking at adding a drawer below the flag to place some items. Still working through how to design that. I think I'll use your method to create the "face" for the glass.

    A very good video and you did an amazing job. As a veteran myself I appreciate your uncle and father-in-law’s service. My father recently passed and I have his flag. He served in Korea during the conflict as a marine, then did 22 years in the army and two tours to Vietnam. My wife and son are both veterans and my son recently got back from his second tour to Afghanistan. We have a long history of family in the military. I really like your version so once my shop is finally up and running I have eight of them to build. I saved your video so I have a reference. Thanks again. Ron

    Hey sir I just found your video and I know it’s an older video, but I’ve got someone that lost a veteran family member and I wanted to gift them with a flag case but I don’t know the dimensions of the flag when folded. Do you perhaps have the dimensions of the box you made?

  • @TheMuzShop

    @TheMuzShop

    2 жыл бұрын

    I thought I kept my drawing of the flag case but can't find it. I was lucky to have one of the flags on hand while I was making them. I google the measurements of the fold flag and they say it's 22 1/2" at the bottom and 16 1/2 " from bottom to the tip. Hope that helps. See if you can borrow the flag for the build. Sorry and thanks for watching.....

    Thank you and sorry I don't have the dimensions anymore or the cases. Hopefully you can find them in another video. What I did was put the flag on a large piece of paper and traced it, then design the case around that.....Hope this helps.
