Building a display case for a memorial flag can be one of the most rewarding things you will ever make. I recently offered to make a memorial flag display case for a family member and so glad I did.

It truly was an honor for me and I know it will be treasured. Thank you
Thank you very much for doing this project. I have watched your show for many years. I am a craftsman and a vet. This video means so much to me, in too many ways to mention.

Thank you for the kind words. God Bless
I totally agree with you about the honor that comes with building these flag displays. I have built 5 of them over the years, and it is a truly fulfilling project. Of course, mine were never to your high quality. But I don't think most families would care if you made it out of old pallet wood and bent nails. They are just thrilled that you took the time and cared to be a part of the vet's story. I enjoy your channel and your wonderful story telling.

Thank you! I agree, it doesn't matter what materials you use. It only matters that you took the time to honor them. I think it's great that you've been able to help so many families.
Turned out really nice...you are a true craftsmen!

Thank you. It was a cathartic experience for me.
That's awesome. Lest we forget. I have my father's. He was in the battle of the bulge. Only one of sixty to come home from his unit. I have so much pride and respect for all who served.

@@CraftsmansLegacy Like you said it brings a calmness over me when I'm in the shop working. I can be sort of an artist.
What a wonderful and humbling project to build. To know it will house our flag of one of our heroes has got to be a huge responsibility but at the same time, a project of love. The greatest gift you can give is helping the fallen and showing so much care and respect. Beautiful video 🇺🇸

Absolutely killer! Thank for sharing this wonderful journey. I can only hope that one day I have the opportunity to make a display case. As hard as it would be for me, as I lost a few friends in the sandbox and here at home, I would put my blood sweat and tears into its creation. It would be the least I could do. Thank you for this journey, it hit home like hell!

Thank you. I've been building the woodshop the last 4yrs and continue learning the craft. I still work in metal at the chopper shop too
Hey man, any chance you might kind of explain a little bit what you were doing at 4:36 with adjusting that cut there? One of the biggest problems I have is judging length and getting the angles to fit perfectly with the pieces length. The miters tend to be fine, but getting a piece that i could repeat spot on seems nearly impossible.
@CraftsmansLegacy

Repeatability can be tough. For this project I knew what the length needed to be and just trimmed it up a bit. Miters can be hard to measure too since the edge can get under a fence or stop.
