How To Make Tsoureki | Greek Easter Bread

In this video I show you how easy it is to make tsoureki. This is an amazing recipe for Greek Easter sweet bread served all over Greece. I've tried many recipes for tsoureki but this one is the easiest and most delicious. Although in this video I made one big one, you can easily make two tsourekia out of this recipe to share or freeze. Just follow the easy steps and remember to double proof and you too will get perfect results every time. This tsoureki recipe is so delicious, you can make it year round and serve it with coffee, for breakfast or as the base for the ultimate french toast!!!
Hope you guys enjoy this video and if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, just give me a shout and I'll get back ASAP!!!!!
Try this today and take your meals from ordinary to OPA!!!!!
Hope you all love it!!!!!
Cheers,
Ken

I've got to try this recipe! I've done mine totally different with the starter and dry ingredients first and butter later. I really like the idea of butter and sugar first in the mixer. And I do a tiny bit mastic in addition to mahlab. But my dough is always so sticky and hard to braid. Thank you, Ken!! Going to try this week!

Hi Ken, about 47 years ago I went to Greece to visit my brother for 10 days. I was only 12 years old at the time it was 1972 and it was wonderful. Every morning I would go across the street from my cousin's house where I was staying and buy a loaf of tsoureki for my breakfast and devour the entire loaf of very light and airy sweet bread which would quite literally melt in my mouth like cotton candy. I've tried many time to re-create that taste and texture but have never quite been able to. Do you think you could give the exact measurements of your recipe so perhaps I can experience that lovely bread again! Thank you so much for your video! I loved it!

Hi Ken, Hristos Anesti! I love your channel, I have a question in the tsoureki recipe, can I use self rising flour instead? You know like to skip the 2 poofing parts? I also saw a recipe where they use bread flour instead of all purpose flour, but it also calls for the 2 poofing steps. Please let me know if there is any recipe where the tsoureki can be done with self rising flour. Thank you dear.

I gained about five pound just watching this delicious "baby" being "born", Ken! Trying out your recipe with tea on my girlfriend's book club tomorrow (I know exactly how tasty this is [sinfully good], and how many idiotic comments will be made about its similarity to Hawaiian King Bread [why do Americans always have to compare foreign foods to something already encountered/known to their limited sensibilities from OTHER cultures encountered? Ugh, pathetic...]). Keep up the great work, brother!

Ken... Love your videos and I have learned a few things, but... when you're blending butter y sugar together, please-please scrape your bowl with your spatula, many times, or at least a few times! As well as when you add other ingredients. I probably won't be able to find the spice ingredients in the country that I reside in at this time, however, I do make/bake/stove-top all the bread that I eat here. I've been baking all my life, and even though you have a 'great mixer' (I had the same kind in Estados Unidos, only in white).... You still have to be on top with helping your machines! Scraping is a very big part of that! to make sure that all of your ingredients go into the bottom of the bowl, where it's going to be mixed!! Don't worry, I'm already a subscriber and I gave you a 'thumbs up' because for some reason I really want to see you succeed!! All the best to you Ken!! Pura Vida!

6 months later and I still haven't made my Tsoureki however, I now have all the ingredients and this weekend I am going to do it. Can I ask, I have a stand mixer with a dough hook which I use for bread making. Would you recommend using that rather than kneeding by hand? It looks like quite a sticky dough and would be easier to leave the Kenwood Chef to do the work!!

  • @KensGreekTable
