I have made tea before, and drank it. But I prefer coffee. When it comes to tea, I love Rooibos tea (hi from South Africa). Google Rooibos tea. And if you ever visit us here in South Africa, do yourself a favour and try some Rooibos Tea with a Ouma Rusk dunked in instead of a biscuit. Just a tip: Rooibos Tea is naturally sweet, so adding sugar is a waste. And its naturally caffeine free, so don't expect to wake up after a cup of Rooibos Tea. And its naturally calming, so great tea to have just before turning in for the night.

What's worse than a biscuit breaking and drowning in your tea? The second biscuit, sent on a rescue mission, that breaks and drowns as well.

Lol, that's so true. Loved it.
Growing up, I'd often have tea at my best friend's house. Mind you, I was born and raised in America, but her mom was a British war bride. Every afternoon after school at around 4--4:30, her mom Jean would have tea for us. I just loved it! Jean would get out her tea service and have biscuits (cookies) to go with our tea. It made me feel terribly grown up. And all the while she'd be grousing about how it was impossible to get a proper cup of tea in America. It was very elaborate the way she made tea. She'd put the loose tea in a tea ball, rinse the tea pot with boiling water then add the tea ball, pour boiling water in the tea pot, and placed a tea cozy on the pot while it steeped. Then she'd get the tea ball out and pour for us. "That" she would say, "was the only proper way to make tea!' It was lovely and I really enjoyed it.
Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama USA, in the 1960s, my mother had "tea time" every afternoon. She made tea (milky with sugar) for us kids, along with cookies (biscuits) and sometimes saltines with butter. I thought every American kid did the same! so I've grown up having a cuppa and a biscuit and have continued the tradition. Thanks for the "how-to" and the reminder to always use fresh water in the kettle!
I lived in UK almost a year, I was an Erasmus student. It was and still is one of the best experience of my life. I shared a house with two other students, one English and one Catalan, this last one and me came from the same university in Spain. In UK, we used to have a habit that was very nice: we went out Friday or Saturday to have some fun with friends to the pubs or the disco and after that when we came back home we used to have a cup of tea together and some biscuits (of course we also dunk biscuits in the tea) before to go to sleep, while talking about what we had done. I recall them as the best cups of tea I've ever had!!
This is probably the best English learning program in the world

@Anpu....Hi, mate. 'Rosie Lea' is Cockney rhyming language, but 'a storm in a teacup' is a colloquialism. Earl Grey has become popular nowadays, served without sugar and milk, whereas brown tea - such as PG Tips and Brooke Bond - is still the favourite 'brew'. RobertK.

Thanx a lot Tom for another gorgeous video. In Poland we also drink quite a lot of tea but without milk. However,if anyone goes for tea with milk it's not called tea anymore,it's 'bawarka'😁
I enjoy watching your videos. Fun, informative and easy to understand. Good job!

I am an American who recently discovered I’m mostly British through a DNA test. I’ve been obsessed with learning the British ways ever since and it feels like home to me. Thanks for these videos. I naturally fancy my tea with a bit of milk, no sugar. People in the States ask if I’m trying to make a “tea latte” and I look at them crazy. I just like my black tea milky is all.

In my country (Bashkortostan) we also like tea, it is the main drink. Most people drink it with milk too, but I personally prefer without. So while I was visiting London it was nice that I could find easily my favourite drink everywhere)))

Some time ago, I was working with a Senior Englishmen. When I saw the way he brewed his tea, it reminded me of my Grandma (she was Italian), she also added some milk to it. Certainly, it rekindled my taste for tea!
Thank you, I have been making tea for years and I just wanted it to taste better. Thanks man.
What a lovely sunny day from your window Tom! The editing is cool and also the video is informative and funny as always, thanks!

Hello Tom! I always have English breakfast tea in the morning. I prepare it exactly how you did in the video. The only difference is that I let about 3 teabags brew in a teapot so that taste and warmth are kept inside by the lid. I add plenty milk and 3 sugars. If I have cream, I use it instead of milk. I love it! I prefer fine china cups to mugs. I have noticed that the container you drink from can notably affect the taste of your beverage. (Can I refer to hot tea as a beverage Tom?) Thank you for your videos! Super useful and witty
I’ve experimented with a few different teas and preparation methods. So far my best ‘cuppa’ is Lavender Earl Grey loose leaf black tea scooped into a little stainless steel tea infuser and steeped in the mug for 5 minutes. Then I add a teaspoon of honey. Yum!
I drink over 2,500 cups of tea a year! Here we might say 'white with one' for tea with milk and one sugar. Leaf tea in a teapot, milk in the cup first is the way in Australia.

Milk first is actually the way it was originally done 😉 apparently it was a the way to prevent the China from from breaking due to the boiling hot water.
Wonderful sharing your passion about the most wonderful beverage called tea. A quick, there are 3 types of elevations of tea that impact tea- low grown "stronger tea", medium grown and high grown "lighter tea" we can blend these elevations for an amazing cup of tea!
This video made me make a cuppa. I wasn't used to drinking tea on a regular basis until I stayed in England for summer, where they also taught me to put milk in it. This habit stayed with me for a while after I came back. My favourite brand is Twinings which I got to know also in England, but luckily I can get it in my country too.
Hey Tom! A love a British tea! I tried it when I was in London three years ago. It's perfect!
Thank you, very interesting video!☺
Very nice video! It was very pleasant to feel "virtually" in your kitchen with you and watch you prepare an authentic British tea 😊 (I ❤ KZread). I personally like to drink earl gray green tea and I prefer it pure without milk, without sugar and without biscuit (the brand is the second you showed).....a cup a day though 😆... One thousand thanks Tom🙋
As a longtime tea drinker, I have to say that I love the English Breakfast Tea!! And I bought one at Covent Garden and brought it back with me to China. :)
I have never heard A Storm in a Teacup but certainly know A Tempest in a Teapot. I have grown to quite like tea and have it for breakfast every morning, straight no milk and sugar. I have done several waking tours around England and Ireland and there is nothing better than arriving at the B&B / inn / pub and having a cuppa and biscuits as soon as you pull your boots off
I love my coffee straight black, my tea with milk and 2 sugars. Thank you for sharing
Very good video.I've enjoyed very much.
That does look like a perfect cuppa! Strong, no sugar is perfect. I’m a tea granny. (A term we use here in Canada for someone who drinks a lot of tea.)

This is great! I love drinking tea and I wanted to start drinking black tea in the morning cause I needed more energy. Yea is better than coffee.
I made tea and was very tasty. Thank you.
I don't usually have a cuppa, but after this delicious recipe I'm gonna taste it, thanks a lot Tom, cheers! 😉😉
Lovely little video. My favorite tea is Black and I like mine with milk and 2 sugars. (Well sugared). Now, in the US PG tips is the strongest you will find. The Yorkshire here is made by American tea companies and the taste isn’t as good as PG. And a nice Pims or biccy goes well with the cuppa. That is my favorite pick me up. Cheers!
I had my first proper cuppa yesterday. A teacher friend of mine is a British immigrant and offered me a cup of tea. Holy cow! Now I am looking for a webcite to order Yorkshire tea! Delicious!
American and i cut out coffee. Replaced it with tea. I love English and Irish breakfast tea. At noon i drink Earl Grey or Camoile tea. I need a electric kettle. Im breaking the golden rule of microwaving my water. Then placing a tea bag in. I must always have tea when i go fishing.
good lesson and even better humour man, keep it up.

Good Afternoon from Canada, We Canadians enjoy our tea too. I like strong English Breakfast Tea with a little milk NO sugar at all.. Lyons tea is good tea too. Also, there is a old song "Everything Stops For Tea" by Jack Buchanan...
I'm Brazilian and an English student. I've to say you can do everything you did it with coffee. I'm obsessed for coffee! Lol
The man who always fixes stuff in my student accommodation sometimes asks for tea or coffee and he always says "plenty of milk, one sugar". I was always confused by the "one sugar" part, I thought it meant 1 cube and always tried to guess how many teaspoons a cube has, because I've never actually had sugar cubes at home :D
amazing as usual Teacher Tom
I drink Yorkshire tea and other Taylors of Harrogate teas daily. I like others didn’t know about the Rosie slang but most other things I knew. Personally I drink my tea black no milk no sugar. I usually like Burton’s Rich Tea Biscuits. Granted I am not a huge fan of the company but I am very thankful that Amazon exists so I can get my tea and my biscuits! The weird thing is all three of those phrases was taught to be my grandmother here in the Midwest of the United States growing up 30 years ago. We were rather heavy tea drinkers. Thank you for this great video!
I started drinking English tea this year. I use Twinings's English Breakfast Tea right now. I do milk with 3 sugars lol. I might have to try Yorkshire. I love coffee also lol.
Thank you
Black tea, and add one teaspoon with honey, it´s my favorite. Thanks for video. Good job :)
Thanks for this fantastic video! It would be great if you could make a video about how to order a cup of tea (and different kinds of tea) in a café, pub...
marvelous video
I love tea very much. Especially green tea. But While I was watching this video I really want to drink tea with milk 😁 I 'll try your recipe. Thanks Tom for this amazing video as usually 😊
I would love to visit the UK someday! I live in the US and my favorite brand of tea is twinnings, both their English breakfast and irish breakfast!
4:02. “Shtrong tea, shtrong tea”.
You’re so funny man!!! I loved it! My friend from Birmingham send me the same tea!! Gonna try now!! Thanks for the tips!!
I will have to try this, normally I do green tea. I feel about my tea the same way, fixes most everything!
Great video mate👍
Great video!
That guy could make interesting a thing as simple as prepare and drink a cup of tea! Brillant video indeed!
Hello Tom, I like strong and very sweet tea with a bit of lemon juice. My favourite is earl grey leaves.
Let me telling something... I really enjoy your video lesson, congrats. Keep it up
I drink tea so much...but I have never added suger to it...I am going to try it...thanks chief dreamer
I love tea 🍵 Mostly clean. Sometimes with one sugar. Great video! 🖤
Nice. To know how to make it.
For me, there's nothing else that makes me feel better than a strong English tea! I do fancy this black perfect tea! In the afternoon I prefer tea with milk. Yorkshire tea is great!
I love tea although to solve problems coffee is better for me! Very helpful vocabulary to use with my students. How to prepare a perfect English tea? Tom has the answer....Great video, amazing teacher. thanks so much!
I drink tea a lot, usually herbal tea, but now I really want to taste that combination hehe Thank you!
Omg this is so nice tysm
Spot on mate. Everyone loves a good cuppa
Thanks for this video 😍😍😍😘😘😘❤❤
I loved it! 😍
i had english tea one time an scones goes so well
You are my cup of tea.I'm abig fan for your channel....💗💗
Turning the electric hob on for 20 seconds and putting the cup on that and covering the top whilst brewing - game changer for keeping it hot. Oh and don't add more than half a spoon of sugar, total flavour clash! I did one sin - UHT milk
My parents were Irish immigrants came to Boston in the late 40s. We only drank loose black tea brewed in the pot. It was very strong and we drank it all day long. We would never touch tea from a cafe or restaurant in the USA. It's weak swill water. To this day I only drink home brewed black tea-Barrys or Lyons.
Grew up in the NE therefore enjoy a nice cup of tea however my family is from the Caribbean and we love our coffee with milk and we dunk crackers into our coffee with milk. It’s quite delightful in my humble opinion 😊
Hello, Tom! thanks for your video! what do you think about personality adjectives? something like loyal, arrogant, optimistic, stubborn and other words. I think it would be great if you do video about it :)
I get bagged tea, usually Earl Grey and some lemon herbal tea, and put the bags in my coffee maker (gasp) but it turns out great
American Here- I like either Yorkshire Gold or Barry's. Luckily, Amazon carries both. I also wait 3 to 5 minutes which is optimal. I have to have a level of sweet, I use raw unfiltered honey. I put lactose free "Creamer" milk in it. We have the Belvita Breakfast Biscuit (Cinnamon and Brown Sugar).
I might try that tea. I love Earl Grey
3:42 Hi Tom, I have just one question, when you said 'time is up' means when the time is finished, but is there any other way to say the same thing?
Yorkshire Tea is my favorite too but I don't disregard a good Earl Grey. I didn't know to not boil twice the water, useful info 😄
I love English breakfast tea and earl gray
This is the way I was taught growing in Pennsylvania. 👍 A good cuppa does fix anything though and two, well you could just about concur the world after two.
Milky tea, mmmm! Great video!!!
Wow.lovely ta
Definitely, tomorrow breakfast with a cup of tea with milk 😀. In the Czech Republic you can get a tea with lemon, sugar or honey. Oh sometimes we add a syrup, I think it's especially for children
So funny this reminds me of my host family when we were on a exchange program with a school from Rochester
I heat the pot and each cup with 150 deg F h2o prior to brewing or drinking. High tea means sitting on a high stool not upper reaches of society or formal. Attended them in Singapore. Reasons that coffee shops were banned. Makes some people hyper emotional. Caffeine drinks, esp. coffee, properly banned in some psychiatric hospitals.
Can you try any tea or does it have to be a specific kind?Am not brit but would love to try
Looks gert lush!
In America, if you offered me a brew I’d expect a bottle or can of beer! And I’d say, “Sure -please!”
I prepare my tea rather similarly except I don't use milk anymore. But I can say as an American we say "tempest in a teapot" rather than "storm in a teacup"--it's not the most common phrase (a bit old fashioned) but it has some nice alliteration and has higher recognition here.
Tom I love very much yoI are my best English teacher :)
