By placing the stems in the fridge to harden for 3 days, then clip the ends, take outside and push the stems into a large pot of soil. Put in a shaded spot until you notice growth, move to sun. I always ask for mixed roses because that way when I take the stems to the garden I get a wonderful mix of lovely free roses.

@@stephenrocks7004 rose stems will produce tons of blooms over the years! They just need to be hardened off in fridge for a few days...no rooting hormone or fancy tricks to get them to root,.just water and dirt,.set in the shade for about 3 weeks,.then moved to sunshine spot. To get them to root faster,.cut a banana into slices with skin on,.put two slices around stem, bury and this will help them root faster,.but isn't necessarily.banana slices can be used to root almost anything...added to rose bushes dirt will increase bloom size and deepen color. Happy gardening everyone!

The 100% rose water in the store is /real/ rose water. This is rose infusion...just rose tea. Still great stuff! but like you said you'll lose some of the volatile oils that get destroyed in the boiling process. A better method would be to steep them in Boiled (not boiling) water in a container with a tight fitting lid for 20 mins (i use mason jars for my herbal infusions) but if you want to make true rose water, you'll have to use a distillation method, which is still very simple, but has a couple extra thing you'll need light a large bowl of ice. Still a great tutorial otherwise! also it's a good idea to wash the petals beforehand if they came from a florist so that there's no sprays or other junk on them.

  • @goldaria9228

But if you use distillation method it is the same. His way the boiled/ evaporated water stays in the tea but when distilling it is separated. His way is maybe less concentrated but I think I'd probably prefer it.

@@unicornawesome1739 i think the best way to go about cold brewing rose petals is to boil water to sterilize it then let the petals sit in it. The other implied method of using boiled water should have been said as "hot water" that method just means heating water then letting petals sit in it rather than actively holding them at boiling temp.

my water smelled like old roses, didn't turn out as I'd hoped. Is this still good to use like on your face for the hidrating purposes or just throw it away?

Thanks for sharing, seems simple enough. Do you have to keep in refrigerator? Will it mold if not keep in cool place?
