    selena vallejo Not really if you mean the french “bon appétit”. Appetit is appetite in English. “Petite” is small for a feminine but there is no “appetite” in French that I can think of. May be didn’t get the first part of the joke, but I did get the tit part...funny

    RECIPE: 6 Yukon Gold potatoes (or 4lbs) 2 tsp kosher salt 1 stick unsalted butter, melted 1 cup heavy cream 2 sprigs of rosemary 1 head of crushed garlic • Peel the potatoes and place them in a bowl of cold water while working • Cut potatoes into 1 inch cubes and add them to a pot of cold water • Add the 2 tsp of salt to the bowl • Bring potatoes to a soft boil over high heat. Once you’ve reached a boil, reduce the temp to low heat and simmer for 12 minutes (they are ready when fork-tender) • Drain potatoes through colander and put them back into the pot over medium-high heat and stir for 2-3 minutes (they should be dry when done) • Put the potatoes into a fine mesh sieve and use a spatula to *gently* push the potatoes down into bowl • Add 1 stick of melted butter first into the potatoes and mix • Add heavy cream to saucepan over medium-high heat and add rosemary and garlic (optional). Simmer for a few minutes and drain out the rosemary and garlic through a sieve • Add the cream to potatoes little by little and you’re done! I apologize for any mistakes!

    I’ve tried this recipe today and oh my god, that sieve trick made my mashed potatoes soooo smooth, not a single trace of lumps, it was like heaven and when the potatoes goes through the sieve, it was beautiful, looked like snow! 10/10 you guys should try this out, you’ll come out with the most amazing mashed potatoes. Edit: make sure your potatoes are well boiled, poke a fork through it and it should break apart very easily (can’t give a time due to type of potato, number of potatoes and how diced they are) Use the back of a wooden spoon! Bendy spatula is harder to work with. I work with the back of a rice cooker spoon and it works very well when using the sieve trick. Don’t dump in a ton of potatoes in the sieve. Do little by little, clean the bottom of the sieve by removing the potatoes stuck to it and then add the next little batch. Make sure there is a good amount of space between the bottom of the sieve and the pot/bowl you’re mashing it into. Not like 1 or 2 inch between the bowl and the bottom of the sieve, more space in between. Idk why lol And yes, don’t add all your milk at once, little splashes, mix it and then you determine whether more is needed And if you like your mashed potatoes lumpier, then the sieve trick might not be for you

  • @sayckeone

    @sayckeone

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@SabrinaH-ej8co No, it's pale because American cows are largely fed corn, so their milk doesn't contain pigment from grass. Cows being fed their natural diet of grass will lead to yellow butter. In other words, white butter is garbage; yellow butter is gold. It has nothing to with flood coloring or bacteria.

    Mashed potatoes are a must, especially when it comes to the holidays. It's basically the side dish that keeps on giving, am I right? Surprisingly, there are quite a few mistakes when it comes to mastering the art of mashed potatoes. We went through about 20 pounds of potatoes to bring you the ultimate creamy, super smooth mashed potatoes. They're seriously so good, you're going to want to lick the plate. There's 2 types of potatoes, starchy and waxy. For mashed potatoes, you want a starchier potato. A potato with higher starch and low moisture will yield a fluffier inside. We're using Yukon Gold potatoes. They're actually somewhere between a starchy and a waxy potato. They're harder to overmash and have a foolproof creamy texture. We're going to peel the potatoes before boiling. Some people like to leave the skin on their mashed potatoes, which creates a little bit more texture, but for really creamy silky-smooth mashed potatoes with a uniform texture, it's gonna work a lot better with the skin off. Quick tip: To keep your potatoes from discoloring and oxidizing as they sit out, place them in a bowl of cold water while you work. After you've peeled your potatoes, cut them into one-inch cubes. This way they're going to cook more quickly and evenly. Add your potatoes to a pot of cold water, and add a very generous pinch of salt. This is going to help build the layers of flavor as the potatoes cook, which means you'll need less salt down the line. Quick tip: You always want to add your butter before adding any cream or milk. This is going to ensure that the texture of the potato remains firm before being softened by all that cream. If you add your butter and your cream all at once it's going to create this really soupy texture, whereas if you go gradually, it'll be nice and smooth and creamy. So remember how we talked about building flavors? This is another time we're going to season it with salt. Add your heavy cream to a small saucepan over medium-high heat. This is also the moment where you can enhance the flavor of your mashed potatoes. We're going to add some rosemary sprigs and garlic, but you can get creative with other herbs and ingredients as well. Bring the heavy cream mixture to a simmer. Once it's simmering for a few minutes and that cream is getting really infused with flavor, you're going to strain out the garlic and the rosemary through a sieve, and then add just the cream to the potatoes little by little until they're fully incorporated. Remember, if you add all the heavy cream at once, it's just going to become a soupy mess. As you fold the heavy cream into the mashed potatoes, you're going to see this really smooth texture start to come together. I mean, it's so beautiful! It's that easy: your potatoes are finally ready to serve. So, because it's Tasty, we're going to top it with more butter. We're also going to add some freshly-ground black pepper, some chives... You can really experiment with your toppings, but this is a pretty classic preparation. Or if it's that special time of year, pass the gravy, baby! I mean, come on, what's not to love? And there you have it, the creamiest mashed potatoes you've ever laid eyes on. Or in our case, our taste buds.

    Here's a recipe that my mom still makes mine with. Get some good ass potatoes, i get mine from my local grocer, when u get home wash them, then peel the skin, then wash them again, and there is 2 potatoes per person, for me my mom just puts the 2 potatoes in a pot, and boils them for 10 min, to know if theyre ready will happen when you penetrate the potato with the fork and it comes out, then theyre ready. Once you take em out, grab something and start mashing them until there are no large chunks, after that put some milk for creaminess, the more the milk the more water-y they will be, and also put some margarine before the milk. after youre done my mom puts vegeta seasoning but you can use salt and black pepper. Sauce recipe: grab a very small plate, put some olive oil in it, and red pepper powder (idk how to call it) and mix it around with a spoon, then put some on your mashed potatoes, you can choose to put some sauce and mix it around with the mashed potatoes but i prefer not to.

    I think I’ll use less butter and milk instead of cream, since that’s what I usually do but I think infusing the flavours of the rosemary and garlic is a neat idea so I’ll try it since I have rosemary growing in my garden 😊

    This is exactly how I make my mashed potatoes minus the rosemary and garlic. I want to taste, enjoy the flavor of the creamy, buttery, mashed potatoes. I love garlic but not on my mashed potatoes. As far as rosemary, very very little in some dishes but nevar Evah Evah in my mashed potatoes since is a very intense herb which tends to take over any food is paired with. So no garlic or rosemary on my mashed potatoes! Good video, thanks .

    Not going to lie; I've always turned my nose up at any food recipe videos by Tasty. Out of sheer boredom, I decided to watch this video, and to my surprise. They literally make mashed potatoes the exact same way that I do. I want to know who told them about my rosemary and garlic-infused heavy cream secret! Full marks to Tasty. This recipe is Andre approved!
