I made them tonight! They were so good, and so easy to make. My abuelita died when I was little, before she could teach me how to make them. My auntie was the only one who was able to replicate her tortillas and she died a few years ago. I kept thinking we had plenty of time, but we didn't. I never learned from her either. Thanks to you I can finally carry on the tradition. Listening to y'all is like being at my auntie's house again, listening to the whole family hanging out. Thank you.

I made these the other day following your instructions and recipe. I used Leaf Lard These are by far the best tortilla's recipe ever. I have made so many recipes of them. They are tasty and they are thin. They have lasted now for 5 days. All you have to do is microwave to soften. They still taste good too! They are so flexible when making the tortilla. I did have to add more water as you know all flour brands are not created equal neither is the humidity. I used Good and Gather unbleached flour AP , it compares to Gold medal Unbleached AP flour Thank you , thank you!! Super thin rocks!! I made bean enchiladas with homemade red sauce and refried beans!! YUMM!

Thank you, Steph. Really appreciated this video. Have a bread maker with a kneading cycle and it worked very well. As you stated, in my area it took more water but since you showed what the dough should look like I kept adding a Tbls until it looked and felt right. Your tips are very helpful. One note to beginner tortilla makers (like me): it will definitely take you more than 30 minutes until you get the hang of it (OK, took me 1 1/2 hours total). But it was definitely worth every minute. They turned out better than any tortillas I have ever tried to make. Will just have to keep making them to see if I can get to 30 minutes :-) Thanks again.

You two Lady's brought back some mighty delishious memery's for me. The off the grill tortillas with lots of butter. I would go to old Mrs. Esturdrodius house everyday. I'd help her with her garden. Everyday she would make me 3 tortilla with fresh churn butter. They were so good!!!! I would have rebuilt her home for them,,, if I hadn't been only 8 years old. Every time I've been to Mexican resterant'. I order them. But never the same ultra good taste. With Hispanics, Italians, Colored folks, I one neighborhood. I ate well, and enjoy to this day alot of cultures in my diet. You remind me of dinners and dishes I'd forgotten about. Thank you both so much!!!!

My two older sons and I no longer live there but we crave the tastes of Tucson food. I taught myself how to make tortillas. I want to share this link with my sons so they too can make fresh tortillas. Taco Bell is NOT Mexican food. 😉

I love your shows. You make them so fun and your energy is fantastic! And you are right, you gotta put love into the food. I've said that for years when folks make fun of me for cooking from scratch. Store bought premade food of any kind has no soul or love in it. The hearth or kitchen is the center of any home.

I love your commitment to reducing your use of plastic - people cooked without it for thousands of years and there is rarely a need for it now.

You are so encouraging! I love your techniques. I am having trouble keeping up with you and all your recipes. Bring on safer at home mode, I am able to make healthy suppers. My Husband just asked me, what are you making for supper. I planned on making green chili chicken enchiladas from your recipes. He lives them & they are comforting on his stomach. Thank you, Cloud, your Mom, Grandmother & Great Grandmother for handing down your knowledge. We appreciate it.

Thank you for adding this method, I have carpal tunnel and can’t work long periods of time with my hands. I’ve been looking for a recipe for tortillas using a mixer! ❤️❤️

I saw an Afghan “ tortilla” that was filled with cilantro, spinach and something else. They filled them, folded in half, cooked and served with yogurt. Darn they looked good. You make things look easy and am grateful for this recipe, mija! I’ll try to find the name because I am positive you could do it. Love n Light as always!💜

Chapati, also known as roti, safati, shabaati, phulka and roshi. I know them as Chapati but I think the more common name is Roti.

I buy Pioneer " harina preparada para tortillas" you just add warm water and it's done in 5min or less! Not counting the pressing and cooking time. Here in San Antonio, Texas they put in all the ingredients somehow. They come out just like the ones from scratch. But I'll always love the old fashion way.

Thanks to you, I got my Stand Mixer!!! More for making Tamale Masa, but now have another recipe to use it with. (I am not good at baking stuff like cakes.) So far, I have made over 200 Tamales mixing the Masa by hand, and I have 2 torn rotator cufs, so it makes it painful, but now thanks to you, I have my mixer! Thank you SO much!
