But you could just simply use volume automation inside your midi clips (or audio clips) inside of Ableton!

Amen brother! You're guiding me on my first couple of hours on Ableton. Sometimes it takes a while for me to grasp which commands you're using, as my interface seems to be a bit different (Live Suite 9), but I'm getting there. Cheers for this!

Great tutorial, Will! In another video, I commented that it was challenging to pick one genre and stick to it, and you then replied with choose one for a couple of months and see how my production will improve. I've listened to many genres lately on Beatport and Bandcamp to figure out which one I should choose, and the past couple of weeks have taken a real shining to Peak Time Techno, so I've decided that this is the genre I'm going to pick for the next couple of months! With that in mind, I went through this tutorial step by step, and this video helped my understanding. Here's to the next two months of creating Peak Time Techno! Thank you for the inspiration! I haven't opened Ableton in more than 10 years. I never actually learned much anyway! This video is definitely quite informational for me! As for a suggestion : a techno legend passed away not long ago, Andrew Weatherall. Would love to see a tutorial on the music he was playing, that sweet dark disco!

I'm intrigued at 5:00 why you use the LFO tool for sidechaining when you say it isn't very accurate? If you are restricting yourself to stock plugins only, why not use the Compressor in sidechain mode? Is there logic behind that choice?
