Simple yet to the point. They say famously where I came from " for Wiseman a little clue is enough". Thanks for providing enough visual and verbal info.

I would like to know....what material did you add on the base of the Tandoor Oven?... Did you add the clay directly on the bottom..or is there any other material used like Fire cement. Furthermore, what is that specific type of clay called?

If your bottom is strong then you don’t need to add anything. The bottom we used was rises so I used mesh fence wire. As for the clay it was red clay. Any clay would work as long it’s clay and not soil

Yes, Red clay or any other clay would work. If the bottom of your can is strong then no need to add anything. Otherwise add metal mesh fence to make it stronger.

Very nice ,I am gathering my sources now to start on mine.just one thing if I'm a little confused with ,and that's the bottom . Did u just lay the wire at the bottom in a pile ? If so how did the bottom become so smooth?

Apply layer of clay, next spread wire mash and clay again. This is just to make strong base.

There is no particular time frame- you will know when it’s fully dry as the clay will change its color as it harden

To avoid grittiness in your bread, follow steps below, This is professional way Make a paste of spinach, mustard oil and jaggery. Cook for 30 minutes. End product should not be very thick or watery. It’s almost like ready to eat. But it’s not for eating. Let it cool. Take a kitchen towel or any old towel rag. Dip In this mixture and coat inside of tandoor several times with time intervals. Burn again and repeat few times for a new tandoor. Next make some roti and discard. Your tandoor is ready now to cook your bread and eat. Cheers. Repeat in future to season as needed.

Appreciate 2 kg of spinach 1/2 kg of mustard oil 1/4 kg of jaggery Boil and make paste of spinach, add rest of the items cook on slow fire till smooth. Apply with a rag on cold Tandoor walls. Wait let it soak in repeat and start fire slowly. New tandoor may crack if too much fire in the beginning. Repeat paste and fire process couple of times. Cheers.

If you are the outdoors type look on the sides of river banks when the water is low, you will find clay eventually, then thin it out with water and push it through a window screen to take out any rocks, sticks debris etc. Then let it dry to the desired consistency for mixing with straw.

@@djchamkila I am from India and a chef. Clay at pottery shops are not the type used for tandoor in India. It’s a yellow type of clay. Right clay is the one gives right flavour profile. Other thing to watch is, actual bread is slapped on the wall. Directly on clay. Not sure if this will work on pottery clay. Someone suggested from river bank might be a workable solution. I can import tandoor from India but looking to make my own here. Cheers.

TURN DOWN THE MUSIC PLEASE ... We can't hear you. This is not a music video. Music is not necessary. If you must hide some background noise use music at very low volume. That said, much thanks for this informative content!
