Thanks! 50+ years of hunting them and eating them. Got a lot of practice between me and dad. After he seen I could do it without getting hair all over them I don't think he cleaned another one lol! I didn't mind doing it! Squirrel, rabbit, and quail was a regular meal.

I always pressure cook the squirrels and pick the meat off the bones, add it back into the dripping in the pressure cooker to make the gravy. Then I make my dumplings and drop them in, squirrel, gravy and dumpling, yum.

I took my fiancé to see my maternal grandparents for the first time. Being country folk my grandmother fixed squirrel and dumplings for dinner. My fiancé, now my wife, had never had such fare and was taken aback with the squirrels looking back at her in among the dumplings.

@@GenX...MCMLXVactually, my grandad always wanted the heads left on because he liked the squirrel brains. My grandma hated leaving the heads on but we’d leave a few on for grandad.

I still have the 90 year old Remington targetmaster 22 my grandfather fed his family with as a kid. They raised many kids on squirrel gravy and biscuits. Wish i would have taken the time to make him this meal one last time before he passed

When I was a kid, my momma would make squirrel or rabbit gravy. If they old tuff ones, she would season them with salt and pepper only and put them in her little pressure cooker but not for a long time. Then she would take the meat out, roll it in flour, salt, pepper, and fry it like chicken. She took the water with the drippins from the pressure cooker and used that broth as the liquid for the gravy after she fried the squirrel/rabbit. Her homemade biscuits were always good! But yeah, fried squirrel, fried taters, squirrel gravy and biscuits!!! Mmmm mmmm!!!

I didn’t eat squirrel for breakfast I would grab a tote sack (burlap bag) jump on usually a little red mule that was actually faster than our horses and run my rabbit box line and on a real cold morning I might catch several rabbits and a skunk or two,come home and my momma would fry some up and make some white gravy (grease,flower and milk)and biscuits then me and two brothers would eat like pigs before we went to school.

A few years back Hannah had her mom on Hannah's channel and they were in another town while shopping together and it seemed like her and Jeff were not together. The Barons seem to keep their private lives private so I don't want to intrude much but that was what I thought was going on. The cool thing is that these two have chemistry and its showing up in her videos and his and making both channels brighten up.
