Get a 1-2TB internal drive. High speed 32gb ram! Put your songs on your computer and make two duplicates of your songs on 2 different external drives as a backup. Then back them up on the cloud service. After that your good!

Ok so I have a 2010 mackbook unibody with 1tb and 16 gb ram and was having trouble because it was lagging every so often or when loading next song from time to time so I down graded to a early serato and still .. then watched this video and realized that under dj preferences sync mode was on and thought that could be why and that sync mode makes the software work a little harder so turn it off and unchecked the boxes and now works great thanks for the idea tho

I see couple people asking why is Scratch Live better than Serato Dj for Analyzing your Files, it’s because it’s more Accurate! Serato Dj isn’t the best when it comes to Analyzing so if that’s what you use just know you will have to double check your BPM’s & Key’s for accuracy

Doesn't using an external hard drive slow serato? Pretty sure it does. All your music should be in your music folders under music on your computer.

Yes you would need another Audio output such as a external monitor, then the music from the deck that’s not playing with be playing through your headphone , while the main music is playing through the external monitors.

Scratch Live has more ( 🤔 let’s say Lines/Lanes), to Analyze your Files WAY FASTER then all the NEWER Versions of there Software. Let’s say it has 6 lanes that the computer is grabbing the Music and Analyzing it that fast. It’s like driving on a 6 lane highways versus a 2 way regular street. Now I will admit, when each program came out after Scratch Live and I saw less Lanes, I was SHOCKED. I mean think about it, I’m not about to stop downloading music and yet Serato says, “let’s keep the lanes down to 2 lanes versus the Autobahn. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyway, I like these tips and I’m willing to try them.(and FYI, locking the decks while playing is a LIFE SAVER for Me) And lastly, I’m really on here because when I load my music, as of late, having to wait an extra 20 minutes for “everything” to Officially Finish Loading Up..😬👊🏽😡

@@billclinton51 Actually Serato analyses by computer cores, my 4 core Macbook Pro analyses 4 lanes consecutively & my 8 core desktop analyses 8 lanes consecutively.

I have the same issue. At times my loading wave form doesn't keep up with the song playing. Eventually the music stops. Don't use an external hard drive. From what I've heard, this slows your computer. Try to adjust your latency buffer.

@@lightsource9263 Got nothing to do with using an external drive, your problem lies with your video card latency, slow video cards or running the wrong GPU driver would result in stuttering waveform displays, lag & "disappearing waveforms". Go to Library + Display then "Maximum Screen Updates Per Second" and lower the number, not ideal but it will help with slow graphic computers.

Yes newer mac books can do that but for older Mac’s it’s recommended that you close all applications that you are not using, so you can allocate more RAM for serato Dj pro.

I would say “Pro” djs don’t use the sync button but when you using CDjs or Pioneer cd controller connect to a mixer, there is not sync button on those CD players, so in the future to become “Pro” you have to leave to play without the sync button
