I use 2 feet by 2 feet. Height 17 inches. Poop collection area 6 inches.

Show us after 6 months. The rabits will chew all that wood not covered by mesh. You should have layed your mesh from inside for the doors, roof and body. That lower metal sheet will decay as though acid was poured on it, insted you should have used transparent ironsheet. Overall it is a good design

wood would be fine. Only some rabbit chew the wood. If you see one chewing you can sell that one or put in another cage. Lower metal will hold for some time. Like you said it will start breaking after 7-8 months but the main problem is the base iron wire. The lower wire will barely hold for 4-5 months. Saying with the more than 10 years of experience. Stainless steel wire are alot better.
