This was really helpful Adam! Doing things live is really tough on camera. Something about hitting the record button makes me instantly anxious and well, crappy. I still have fun making music videos but it's such a challenge. Thanks for making this one!

Thanks Adam. My son is super talented on vocals and guitar. He got a gig at The Trocadero in Philly when he was only 18. He can sing almost anything and I get him nice equipment whenever I can. He currently has a Taylor & Ibanez Acoustic guitar. THANKS

I didn’t realize that much work went into it and Brother. Thank you very much because I can listen to you all day long. I started playing again on my Taylor and it’s a pristine guitar and I don’t play it as much as I should but I get it. I’m actually in Gibsons/Martin acoustic by myself. I just have an old one in the last 30 years😊 Wow, keep up the hard work for us. Good job.

Sennheiser MD 441 on acoustic guitar. Another MD 441 on vocal (if the singer is powerful). Smooth and tight results. Calms down the room sound.

Hey Adam. Thanks for all the info. Wondering how many channels you record/mix when performing the solo videos. From watching your music videos and now this tutorial, I'm guessing 1.) Acoustic guitar straight into interface; 2.) Acoustic Guitar microphone (Sterling) - looks to be set up about 1 foot from sound hole; 3.) Vocal microphone (Groove Tube); 4.) Room microphone Audio Technica). How did I do? Thanks in advance.

Tha's helpful man. Can you talk about what are the things to watch out for while synching your voice to the video? Like, do you record video while recoding voice? What if you have to retake some part of a song?

  • @AdamPearceMusic

So I have to audio recording from my camera and my phone as well actually recording the sound to my good mics and interface. I use the audio from my camera and phone to sync up with my high quality mixed audio and then I mute them (because they're low quality anyway). I try to knock my songs out in one take but every once in a while I'll punch in. I just pick up where I left off and then splice the new take with the old one. You can use the B roll camera to switch to when you're making the splice so you don't notice it on the A roll.

I think buying 2k to 3k mics for things like this is unnecessary. I've recorded on them and couldn't honestly tell a difference between that and $600 mics. Maybe my ear isn't trained enough though!

  • @robpearson9526

I’m confused. On one hand your saying keep your acoustic/singing performances live and raw, but then you say that you have everything mixed then synced in adobe? So my question is, are your performances live or post mixed etc? I’m wondering about this because your sound and mix is great!
