I'm still not understanding why all the fuss? If you're simply pouring alcohol into an existing power that absorbs the alcohol, then you have the weight of the powder AND the alcohol...which takes up more space and wt. than the original alcohol. So, what's the point? Why not just get a bag of little sponges and pour your booze on them, and when you want a drink, wring them out? (Maybe I should patent my Sponge-ahols?)

Couldn't you just buy pure ethanol? Pretty sure that''s available legally in California just not sold for consumption. I would assume the reaction would work better with less water?

This might work better if you had a stronger proof of liquor.... if you used something stronger like moonshine talking lethally high proof and mixed it... would the powder not be stronger? and if the powder is stronger would it not take less alcohol powder to get a buzz?

If you used 100% alcohol you have have to snort like a kg of powerder to get a buzz. Its so much easier to to take a shot or two.

You just have to buy Lab grade ethyl alcohol. One pint (2 cups) of 200 proof alcohol will cost you about $40 from a chemical/science store. I'm into chemistry, so my local science store trusts me enough to sell some to me. That stuff can't taste that great I would think. I imagine tapioca starch that tastes like booze. I was thinking more of a 1:1 ratio. that 1 oz of the tapioca powder would absorb an ounce of the rum. That's when it worth buying some. Wiat till Bill Cosby gets a hold of some.
