How to make pineapple quilt block tutorial- 2023 Scrappy Sampler- Block 16

Hi, Friends! I'm Jessica and thank you for joining me for the 2023 Scrappy Sampler! Today I'm sharing how I make Block 16. Today we are working on a pineapple block. This block is a little time consuming but it's beautiful, fun, and worth the effort! Let's make it together!
You can find the pattern for block 14, 15, and 16 here- jessicadayon.blogspot.com/2023...
The 2023 Scrappy Sampler is a completely FREE scrappy quilt along that I'm hosting starting December 26th, 2022 and running until April 2023. You can find the details and schedule for the 2023 Scrappy Sampler on my blog- jessicadayon.blogspot.com/202...
As I mentioned in the block 1 video, my favorite iron is an Oliso ProPlus SmartIron. Oliso was kind enough to give a discount to my followers! You can get $20 off a ProPlus SmartIron using the code Pro20 at checkout. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could also use my affiliate link (the price stays the same for you but I make a small commission on any purchase you make through my link)- www.oliso.com?aff=100
If you have any questions, leave them in the comments.
Thanks for watching!

Beautiful block! FPP is one of those things that I have a hard time keeping straight in my brain because it's backwards sort of.

Beautiful block. I’ve always wondered how it was made with paper piecing. It’s stunning! Thank you!

I love this block, but it looks so intimidating. One day I will try it. Thank you for showing it

You should try it! It really isn't difficult at all- just take it one step at a time and watch the video as much as you need. Also you can refer to Block 2 (Courthouse steps) because that is paper piecing too and its a bit easier. You could try that one first.

Beautiful choice of fabrics for this block. Would have liked to see how you started the center of the block and how you lined up the pieces to sew

I know!! I thought I videoed the whole thing but my camera must have stopped recording at some point! What a pain but I couldn’t do it again because I was going out of town. If you want to see a very similar beginning, go to the courthouse steps block. They start the same way. Sorry about that!!

Hi Jessica, I am enjoying your scrappy quilt along sampler, I am excited to say that my curves are coming out very nicely. Thank you for including them. It is stretching my repertoire. I am working on block number six, can you give sizing of the flying geese blocks and the square triangle blocks. I am working on it without using the template and I want to make sure I have my sizing correct before cutting the squares down. Thank you.

I’m so glad you are enjoying the sew along and that it is helping develop your skills. The reason that block 6 has templates is because the sizes are not a size that you’d be able to cut with a regular ruler (they go to the 16th). If you can’t use the templates, I think the best thing to do is substitute another block that finishes at the same size.

I have a request for this block pattern but in a 16" block size. What's the best way to increase the size?

I don't think there is a best way to enlarge it. You'd need to design it yourself on a computer program as a 16" block.

I do. You can buy foundation paper piecing paper but I generally use regular printer paper.
