That looks so good! I grew up in Philly and used to eat these all the time. Sadly, I can’t buy these where I live now, so I’m definitely going to try this!
In Philly its tomato pie, RI its pizza strips lol, in RI cant say bakery but we like a sheet oan with parchment ald spread hand crushed san marzano tomatoes in the pan snd add pecorino, garlic, herbs (cant say everything lol), and put in oven 45 min at 400, scrape and let cool in bucket, make swuare sheet dough, sauce, sdd more pecorino snd bake, ill eat any pie /strip.. riund, square.. best seller das breaded eggplant on strips, piza pizza pizza.. happy new Year
35 miles west of Philadelphia is West Chester, Pa. there you will find Carlino’s Market and the best tomato pie on the planet. Like you they use chunky tomato’s instead of tomato paste. The tomato pie is delicious and lasts longer in the fridge because the thickness of the topping. Sweet tomato with garlic, spices and olive oil, the pie is to die for.

Making it right now. Th Sorry Philly Utica NY is the tomato pie capital of the world. People moaning about you putting spoon in mouth and back in sauce need to get a grip.
Peggy..... Where did you get that long slicing knife??
Thanks - I was wondering how to make this! Pro tip is not to put your tasting spoon back in the bowl - because it is actually true that your saliva enzymes start to break it down and it just goes bad faster - and gets watery - a little enzyme goes a long way
