Your tutorial is THE best on the net! Thank you so much for sharing! I have been using Ecosoya advanced for a few months and have felt that my candles are missing something... Your video has inspired me to try your method... you heat the wax to 80c whereas the product says heat to max of 75 (which obvs I have been doing without great results) this is where I think I am going wrong plus adding the fragrance at 60 (as the product says) instead of your 65 plus adding the stearic acid... I have just ordered 1kg of this... I cannot wait to make my new batch again using your method. Thank you so much! I will report back! ps love the start of your video... just get straight to the point!! PERFECT!!

Awe thanks so much for the comment Lindsey, I really appreciate it. If you follow the exact instructions on the video, you will have beautiful candles. The vegetable steric acid was a game changer for me cause it gives such nice tops, and the wax sticks perfectly to the glass, also the candles don’t sweat so much. Once you have a method it’s good to stick with it. I think I tried around 25 candles before I had one that was worth burning. Tried 6 different waxes and countless wicks and wood wicks. Also, in my opinion wood wicks are a waste of time. Good luck 😉 and thanks again.

@@PurchaseReviews I haven't tried wood wicks as I don't really like them anyway, but they are really big in the UK! I forgot to say I love your wick centering card!! I made myself one quite similar so that made me giggle when I saw yours! I really love this wax so I will continue with your method and keep on going! Do you sell your candles in the UK? @@whisperinglily No matter how many different wood wicks I’ve tried, they all seem to burn erratically. All wood has knots in it, so when you hit a knot in a wood wick, it will go out, or not burn properly. The problem is that you can’t tell which wick has knots in it cause they are so well hidden. Ahh yes, the template, I’d be lost without my cardboard template with the stringy thing on the end. Nothing more disappointing than having an off-centered wick. No, I don’t sell overseas, only through word of mouth, cause posting costs way too much, also when you do an Etsy search on candles there are around 10,000 search results that come up, so it’s a tough industry to crack. I enjoy doing the occasional candle, as I don’t want the stress or pressure of having to fill huge orders. Between Nursing, marketing, You tube, candles and music, I’m getting my creative fix. Thanks Lindsey, call me Hayo.

Hello, thanks for the tutorial. I am facing a lot of of sweating in my candles and cane across your video. I have a question, do you calculate the stearic acid as part of the total wax needed, or do you add the required quantity on top of the wax? For example if I am using 185 g of wax and adding 15g of oil, do I had the stearic acid in top of the 185? Thanks!

Thankyou, yes, you add the stearic acid on-top of the 185g. Also, during summer months there is always going to be some candle sweating, can never fully eliminate, unless you use paraffin wax. I never post my candles in the mail during the summer.

Hi and thanks for the very helpfull video. I'm currently using CB Advanced and struggling with wet spots. After using the neoprene can cooler, do you still get wet spots after a few days or does you wax stay adhered to the glass? Just ordered a neoprene can cooler to test for myself

I don’t get wet spots anymore. Also I leave it in the neoprene sleeve for 2 weeks before i even check them. The only time where there can be an issue, is if the weather is colder than usual. Follow the same steps and you should be getting the same results. Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it.

Thanks so much. It’s 30 grams of vegetable stearic acid per 770grams of wax. When melted, remember that the 770grams of wax will be equivalent to 1litre.

@@pip585 I’ve used it, and hated it. It was a lot cheaper, but very hard to work with. My tops were always messed up, and its adhesive properties onto the glass was terrible. I even tried using it in tins, and had issues with frosting, cracking and scent throw. Also, the candles would never burn properly. I was very patient and tried many different things, but at the end of the day the only two waxes that I will ever use are CB advanced for glasses and only coco-soy for the tins. I did a lot of research, and made many candles before I came to that conclusion. Wasted a lot of money on different wicks and waxes before I finally figured it out. Also, wood wicks are terrible. Even the more expensive ones aren’t that good. All wood has knots in it, so they will stop burning, or burn erratically once the flame hits them. There is no way of seeing or telling whether or not the wood wicks you use have them, cause they are very hard to see with the naked eye. Hope this info helps.

Gday, 5 grams of stearic acid and 0.5 grams of UV stabilizer. A lot of the times the UV stabilizer isn’t needed. I only use it with candles that contain “vanillin” that’s the ingredient that makes them turn yellow. Hope that helps.

@@kellythomas5722 Thank you Kelly, I’m glad you enjoyed it. So 770 grams of wax once melted is equal to 1 litre. So you can add between 3-6 tablespoons to that. As a percentage, or weight, I’m not sure as I have never weighed it before.

Hi, I follow your steps and I found that my candles have rough tops. Idk if it’s normal or I’m doing something wrong?

A lot of the time the tops can vary depending on the temperature inside the house. Nowadays I like to go over the tops with a heat gun, and this always solves the issue. So once you’ve made the candles, let them sit for a week, and don’t trim the wick until you have gone over the tops with a heat gun. Just a burst for around 5 seconds should solve the problem. You can also add more stearic acid the next time if you want smoother tops. Hope this helps.

@@roxyl4701 No worries, thanks. Sometimes it can also depend on the fragrance itself. If I use say something like pine needle fragrance, I only make them at 8% cause they are so strong, whereas a fragrance like Japanese Cherry blossom needs to be made at 10% cause it’s a weaker fragrance. You probably already know that though. I just think that this wax, or coco-soy are the best ones to work with, and I’ve tried almost all of them. Let me know how you go 😃

@@roxyl4701 coco-soy is great for 8oz tins, or ceramic pots, but I find that it has terrible adhesion to clear glass, so you have these big wet spots, also the tops can be bumpy. By adding vegetable stearic acid, the tops do smooth out beautifully though. The scent throw is relatively the same as CB advanced wax. Ask me anything, I’m happy to answer. Thanks
