Chris, I made this cake last night and its AMAZING.. I never made a cake from scratch, I do cook and I must say I cook well. But, never liked the consistency of cakes from scratch, they seem too heavy and dense. BUT, this cake is light and just amazing. Your instructions were right on point...THANK YOU..

If you mix equal parts of flour, oil, and shortening (for example 1/4 cup each) you have a homemade cake release. Use a pastry brush to apply it to your pan. It will last in the cupboard for 3 months, or 6 months in the fridge.
