    Is it possible to make this with rice paper?

  • @LouiseJannetta

    @LouiseJannetta

    Hi Edu. Rice paper is made of fine pulp while mulberry paper has long filaments of mulberry bark within the papers. When the papers are felted these give the paper structure and strength which the fine pulp of rice paper would not be able to form. Hope this helps

    Should the two sheets be different colors or does it matter? The beige you started with in the beginning seemed to disappear. Does the soaking overnight happen before the first joomchi process of folding or after? I got confused about that part.

    Oh no, you can use what you like. My sheets are not very heavy, so I need two or three to stop it from all breaking down. I am a little rough with things though X. Good Luck 😀

    I am not very good in English and I would like to know a much time you manipulate the ball of paper in your hands? I hope that you understand what I try to say. Thank you very much.

  • @LouiseJannetta

    @LouiseJannetta

    Yes, I do. You have to manipulate the paper a lot. It is about twenty minutes each time you fold it up, keeping it slightly damp. However, I am impatient and do not do it as carefully or as long as I should, and I get good results. I hope this helps. Good luck with it, and many thanks for watching XX😀

    Can you tell me about the cellulose glue? I bought cellulose powder, but it was from Japan, I think. I couldn't read the directions on how to turn it into glue. I tried half and half and realized it required much more water. It was clumby, but I used the thinner parts and kept adding more water. I still was able to use some of it. Do you know the proper ratio.

    Forgive me, what is mulberry paper?

  • @LouiseJannetta

    @LouiseJannetta

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Judith, Mulberry paper is often called Hanji paper and is a paper traditionally made in Korea from the root bark of the mulberry bush. It is generally handmade. The bark is not pulped to a fine pulp but is left with longer filaments making it more robust and feltable. In felting, the longer filaments bond to produce a strong fabric like paper.😃
