Jackfruit can be delicious when prepared correctly. Watch me transform plain canned jackfruit into a savory taco filling.

Thank you for making this video cuz nobody else talks about rinsing and boiling the Jackfruit first to get rid of that acidic taste I had given up on it until I tried your recipe.

Hi. I'm not vegan but I was curious about this taco filling. Today, the majority of the fresh Jackfruit is from Mexico. How using fresh "green" jackfruit? It can be found in many asian markets like Vietnamese, chinese and Korean markets. It's really big though, around 15-25 pounds. Green jackfruits would have the "milk" or sap. So, we definitely have to get rid of that somehow. It's not in the one from the can. Must learn how to handle the sap. Many people have a allergic reaction to the sap. It is very sticky also. When using a knife to cut it, it should be oiled first to be sort of non-stick. I'm trying to get a tree going, in southern California.

I made it straight from the can and still liked it. Cant wait to give these tips a go
I also remove the pits/seeds. Trader Joe’s canned jackfruit is very affordable at $2/can.

I was really trust this recipe. You weren't over the top with a sales pitch. Cant wait to do this tonite
Just marinated my jackfruit taco style and tried one (not so) tiny bit just to see how it would taste and I already know that it’s going to be great! No briny taste at all! Thank you so much.
This is the best method that I have seen. Thank you you for sharing 👏😊🙏
So happy I found your video. I literally felt the same way. I prepared some jackfruit tacos and was like why did they not tell me that it was so sour. Yuck. I will definitely add this method. And the agave tip is brilliant as well!
Nice one. You taught me a lot, especially in regards to the initial washing to rid the acidic taste.
I loved your video, straight to the point easy to follow instructions, thank you so much and I just subscribed 😋
Oh yum I am definitely going to make that I bought two cans of jackfruit and didn't know exactly what to do with them so now I know!! Thanks have a good weekend
Looks pretty good. I’ve never had canned/ unripened jackfruit. I usually get the fruit quartered for Hmart. It DELICIOUS!!! Tastes like a pineapple and juicy fruit gum made a baby. I will definitely have to try this recipe!!
FYI big tip on heating up corn tortillas, wet them first then throw them on a hot pan so they steam and char but they won’t fall apart. You know it’s time to flip em when they come off the pan easily
You did that👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Im gonna try this tonight!!!
These look amazing!!!! Thank you for this!
Thank you Elise, I really needed this 😊
Hi, just viewed your video on preparing Jackfruit. I've been searching for a simple/minimal ingredients recipe, glad I found yours.
My husband loved it! thank you for the recipe.
Thank you🙏🏽✊🏽 I made a roasted chili marinade for this recipe pretty amazing. Great tips ✌🏽
I like the tip of how to remove sour taste from the brine ,your recipe is simple and easy tnx
you have so much to offer to the world... subscribed! ❤️
Thank you so much for the tip. I tried the steps to remove the brine flavor just before a pull pork recipe and it tasted great. I will try yout taco recipe as soon as I get some tortillas.
Thank god, I finally found a recipe that addresses this problem!👍😻
Thank you so much that was delicious! 🙏🏼😍
i haven't tried this yet but I imagine adding sage would really benefit your pork flavoring as well since that's what chefs add to sausage to give it that sausage flavor. If you've never tasted sage once you do you'll immediately get what I'm saying.
Thanks Eliise I have been ordering Jackfruit Lobster rolls from a Vegan restaurant and i want to give it a try at home. Your tips are really helpful
Can’t wait to try this!
Wow your method makes so much sense as to why every time I would make canned jackfruit it would taste so bad. LOL I have large canned jackfruit sitting in my pantry that I have been avoiding for months now. I am going to make this using your method. Thank you 💟 Ps. The piano in the background is soooo pretty I couldn’t stop looking it’s a vintage beauty
Thank you! I just tried fresh jackfruit for the first time today. Also bought a can of it in brine, and some already in bbq sauce. Loved the fresh. Had to rinse away some of the BBQ sauce as it was too much and too spicy. But the canned was awful. So I'm glad you showed me what to do with the rest of it.
Just got a new subscriber! Yassss what I was looking for!!! ❤️❤️❤️thank you
Thank you. Will try this method with an other marinade tomorrow.
Simple video not over the top just perfect -just cooking and explaining with no sales pitchy or agenda good job! Subscribed!
Just made this as you suggested, and it was delicious! Well done. The only thing I did differently was to quick pickle some red onion for the topping. Thank you!
Yes I decided to pick this up at trader Joe's today it's $199 green jackfruit in brine. 1 lb 4 oz ..wow can't wait to try it thank you💪😁
I am so looking forward to cooking this recipe thanks for sharing
I love tacos too ! Excited to try this recipe!
Thank you - this method worked great!

Really well done video, I appreciate this a lot!
Yummy:)) it looks delicious thank you
Eating young/green jack fruit has been done more many many years in Asian countries. In many tropical areas such as Jamaica we have been eating it ripe as often as many Americans eat apples in season.. Its only new to the US, Asian dishes often require it be brined, so that's why you see it that way.
Amazing. Will try again 😊 Thanks
I had the same problem, thank you!!
Great tips for getting rid of the brine from canned jackfruit. I use your video every time I make jackfruit. I have subscribed.
This looks so good I definitely want to try it as a pulled pork sandwich
A game changer! Thank you 😊

Thank you so much, I couldn't figure out why the jackfruit pot roast that I made tasted like vinegar..I rinsed them & removed the seeds but it wasn't as thorough as you just did, I will be going back in for another shot lol
Thank you. Will try this fruit again
My family used to cook the jackfruit curry. The texture is similar to meat but it's not meat.............. very delicious 😋
Just bought jackfruit, gonna try my hand at this !
Interesting video. Working on a project to market frozen jackfruit instead of the canned product whose sour taste many complain about.
Awesome recipe
Great work! Just suscribed; thank you, Elise!
Very helpful thanks so much!
Great video you should do more. Really easy to follow 👍
Making it tonight thank you 😊
Thanks for your help! I want to try using jackfruit in a vegan burrito.
Have not had tacos in a while. Trying to figure out how to use jack fruit properly as a substitute for meat, saving this video, just need one more can of Jack Fruit and I love the Better Than Boullion paste, got some now in the fridge, going to put this on for tomorrow, as tomorrow is Tuesday, may season tonight to get added flavor. And girl, I am the same way, don't like wasting food!!
Thank you so much, great simple instructions which even I can follow! 😄 I'm gonna try it! By the way, you look beautiful, don't put yourself down!! 😘
My mom bought half a jackfruit at the store and I’m attempt to make this!
Trying this tonight xo
thank u for this!!!
FINALLY someone who knows how to cook jackfruit ! so refreshing.
Thanks for this, not a Vegan but I am making some beef cheek barbacoa for Xmas and I wanted to make something for my nephew so he doesn't feel left out or miss out on glorious taco fun :) Actually super interested to try this myself as I've never had jackfruit at all. Looks like they sell it in water here in Australia, so I might have an easier time of it!
I had bought a jackfruit because it looked weird and I had never seen one. I had to change some things but this was great
Great job!
This is DA BEST
This is so helpful because i made it twice and was going crazy that it was bitter after flowing recipes.

Thank you great video ✨
Very nice recipe

I thought this video was awesome. Shows another way of having jackfruit. I like mine sweet and I put it in my smoothies. But I would try it like this to see. Street taco style!

I'm so glad you did this video! I hate that sour taste!
Okay so you're literally the first video i've seen on Jack fruit and had no idea it came in a can, because of the "fruit" in the name I thought it was in the produce section lol! definitely trying thanks!

I’m thinking of making jackfruit pot roast for thanksgiving. Do you think this method would work if I leave the jackfruit in chunks instead of shredding it?
I’m dehydrating it (at 135 F) in my ninja fryer, for 12 hours, then rehydrating with (not-beef bullion); then cooking on the stove top with BBQ sauce and seasonings; dehydration supposedly makes it taste meatier, we’ll see how it goes
