That is so TRUE!!!!!!! Wow finally someone has the guts To say it!!! Thank you Michael for putting it out there!!!! Hunting is a God given right! Hunting is for the family and I don't just mean blood family we as hunters are all family and it's a very big tent we all can share!!! It's not about how big your deer is Or how many ducks you killed it about the time you share and who you share it with!!! Every hunter is a star if you share you knowledge with a new hunter or help an old hunter who may have health issues!!!! Like charity if your look for someone to tell you how great you are then it's not charity!!! Thank you Dan

Michael your excatly correct and it's hard to find a good article when you pick up some of these hunting magazines, because there's nothing but advertisement for redicioulous priced products with icon figures in the industry promoting them. it's just sad. I appreciate your honesty and standing up for the future of hunting and fishing.

I wish I knew how to make hunting my job. It's been my favorite hobby since I could understand it, passed down through generations. This year my job is taking my hunting season completely away. I sound like a total fool when I try to explain why I would rather have time in the woods more than overtime. Happiness is more than money. I need a foot in the door of outdoor industry badly.

Best way to get into the "Outdoor Industry" is to get a college degree in what you're passionate about and become an expert in it. If you never get on television you'll have to settle for getting paid to go out and play.

One thing I have noticed over the years in the "Hunting Industry" is that generally especially in the early days of TV hunting shows/videos, the hunters/hunting personalities usually had a "product" in which they were promoting for instance, Primos were making hunting videos for the main purpose of promoting deer calls. Knight & Hale same thing. Even back to the days of Bob & Margaret Hice with Tree Lounge climbing stands, Summit stands etc... They all had a purpose. I think and of course this is just my opinion for what it's worth, to try and get in to the hunting industry as a tv personality/hunter without a "PRODUCT" may very well be an uphill battle especially without a good product. I'm not saying it's impossible just saying that it kind of makes it pointless considering now days EVERYONE is wanting to do it. very similar to country music. One of the biggest problems today in country music is the fact that sooooo many people are wanting to be a country star when in reality, 90% of them have no business attempting it lol. So, in closing to answer this question in my opinion I would simply say that you should have a good justified reason to want to "promoting a good product" because just having the desire of being a hunter or wanting to be a "celebrity hunter" isn't going to help you stand out among the rest. I would say if you don't have your own product to promote maybe try getting in with a new company that does have a decent product that would be willing to let you help in promotion of that product and round up sponsors & investors that will support your idea because in todays world it takes $$$ no doubt about it. Just my two cents, I come in peace :)

I’ll Vouch for that, I was with Knight and Hale back in the golden years as a Pro Staffer, and you worked your ass off to promote, promote, promote…. Those calls were amazing and what an amazing team.

to me a professional is just that someone that has took the time to learn everything they could about the game the take . its not about promoting . thats a promoter . im a professional hunter chris cordell i gave my life to help others in the outdoors and i spent 53 years doing everything i could to learn and grow the world of hunting and archery. to many people today are called a pro when they haven't did anything in the hunting world but run their mouth . to me a pro is a person u can go to and he will answer most all of your questiones about what hes a pro at for me thats whitetails i took over 200 whitetails 31 p&y and the only one in the world to do a double slam in one season. I also took the largest in the us by bow in 92 for that year then 94 i did the Double slam on whitetails nobody else has ever did that then in 96 i took the top buck by bow in the state of ms it made number 4 all time. so look at what people call a professional today look at their past see what they did . I never used a guide in my life a pro shouldn't need a guide i knew that at 8 years old. I worked for the first camo for hunters trebark 30 years Nikon over 20 pse hca easton arrows white muzzloaders and cordells was designing products for 40 years. . I gave my life to helping others. But a so call pro of today is nothing because most hasn't did shit . but they kiss the big companies ass just so they can say im on a pro staff lol . please im a pro hunting advisor never say im a pro staff person because it is a different.. what does it take to be on tv today nothing but money you can be the worse hunter in the woods and be on tv if u have money thats the truth.. If i can help anyone with their hunting my email onenontypicalhunter@gmail.com.. ill tell u the truth because im not a Typical hunter i worked a lifetime to be the best. No im not the best talker but if u want to kill nice Bucks every season just write me or look me up on Facebook i deleted many just so i can help the hunters that care..

I don't want anything. No money,no cameras and no promotion. Just the time spent with you guys are enough. I love how you guys keep it real. I have watched you grow in this business since you worked with bill on monster bucks. Hell yall hunted my uncles ranch twice. Now the wife and I are starting our own outfitting company. Been hunting 32 years now before I felt confident enough to say I could provide the knowledge clients would need. I'm not rich by no means. Actually consider myself poor in today's economy but you know what? I have a great family, loving wife, 3 beautiful daughters with one at just 18 months and a love for the outdoors and the willingness to work my tale off at a full time job and still drive 3.5 hours each way to camp every other weekend to ensure I continue to learn Gods creation and keep my family involved in something other than tv or video games that have taken over our children's lives and became persuasive baby sitters to a lot of parents. So come on anytime brother. Hell bring the whole crew. I just want to gain some wisdom.thats more than money could ever buy. Black bears up to 550 lbs. Whitetails in the 170-180's and pictures to prove it. Property has not been hunted for deer legally in 25 years. Email me. Website is still under construction. This is our first year. Booked up all hunts in less than a month. Only running 10 hunts this year. You will not be disappointed brother. Did I mention I didn't want anything in return.lol Offgridwhitetails@gmail.com

Also volunteer and meet people. You’ll be surprised at the connections that follow. Do everything you can to promote and teach others about hunting. Apply to Pro Staff, but beware, to be anything at all you have to work your ass of promoting. Sitting at booths selling product, meet more connections… on and on. No one is gonna come up to you and offer a TV show.

Come on, Michael. You started off by saying that people skirt the issue when answering this question of how to become a hunter on TV and you did exactly that. Instead of telling people what they need to do to be on TV, you told them they should just promote fishing and hunting and be happy with that. Maybe just tell people they should watch Sean's video from Sean's Outdoor Adventures on how to become a professional hunter on TV, because I answer it for them straight up. Also, just a suggestion, when you are going to film yourself, it is a good idea to put the camera on a tripod and then do the talking so that people are not getting motion sickness from you shaking the camera awhile you are talking. Lastly, my offer still stands. God bless ya.
