the y60 has been my dream car for ages - currently rebuilding a pajero 1999 for offroading, while I do like it - every time I look at it I can just imagine rebuilding a patrol y60, I will get there one day!

Bullbar kool Tommy, going to suit the theme of the truck and polish it up, will look awesome. If you're going to use it to winch with, you may need to strengthen the bar somewhat. Why not gusset the joins with 3 or 4mm alloy plate? Might be a bit of stuffing around but worth the piece of mind and will hopefully act as a bit of insurance for a period correct bar.

Good stuff! Dont mind the bar either. Keen to see it polished up.

Amazing job what you have done

I've done the same job on my GQ, but with sound deadening on the floor and closed cell foam under the carpet. Aside from the massive difference in noise, if you don't at least put some underlay under the carpet, the carpet forms to the ribs in the floor and looks horrible. I put a serious sound system in mine so the dynamat type insulation made a massive difference to making the truck quiet, especially up the firewall.

This build is coming along nicely....you gone this far you should try getting a deal for some car builders or another sound deadner solution....running those tyres is all your going to hear over that new stero....I like that your bringing crome back should look good that bull bar once it's polished.

Most original GQ build on KZread. Retro-shaved-sleeper. Polished ally bar might glare out with the headlights on but worth a shot. It could work really well cut down and polished as an ally OEM+ bar. Would be cool paired with polished ally snorkel and rear bar.

@@RoamLyfe the red carpet is a master stroke. If I were you I would go black headliner and trim but maybe red accents on the door cards. Looks sick keep it up!

Before doing the main coat for the floor under the carpet, is that white paint a primer used to put over the wire brushed rusted spots and then once that dries you put the urkiprotec main coat

Can’t wait for the low rider suspension, that makes the front end bounce. If you don’t go out on the maiden voyage where a sheepskin coat and a very bright pimp suit from the 70’s I will be bitterly disappointed. Really enjoyed this build mate 👍

I played the intro again just for that voice over. Stay Classy youtube. When i had my GQ i was forever trying to work out how to swap the position of the headunit and the AC controls. Knowing that piece is now available is making me think of getting a GQ again.

Absolutely loving the build, one of the best I’ve ever seen. My only annoyance is that I’m guessing it won’t be used for proper 4bying, but that’s just me. Either way, fucking keen to see the end result
