I hope they add a mechanic to sell stuff that we grow soon; I spent ages farming at the start of the game without knowing that I'd soon be able to grow plants in the Room of Requirement so now I've got more than I'll ever need. It would be nice to be able to sell some of the ingredients. And it was also be good if they added a recovery mechanic to clothing items with traits on them.

also beasts should have different prices depending on their rarity shiny or not, they're type, puffskeins cheaper, unicorns, graphorns, griffons and phoenix expensive, 120 for a puffskein and same amount for a phoenix sounds weird, also breeding time could be different, the more exotic a beast is, more time needed up to a cap, like 2h ingame time

Not seeing it here in the comments but you only need one male per species. The breeding pen locks up the female and leaves the male loose to breed again. I have tested this. So you can theoretically get 4 female unicorns breeding out of a total of 5 animals. saves some space if you want to breed specific animals but still want to load up on other ones for crafting materials.

@nathanscott4422:you can switch out the animals in the vivariums so techincally you can have more than one male per species if you switch out the beasts in the vivariums since you choose who breeds with who for the male ones out of the female ones

just push the main quests for now, no point leveling for them as they are super easy. getting beefy for early game main quests doesn't add to your experience, finish up those beginner levels, then you'll have the room of requirement + vivarium and loom, so you can level up your gear and start exploring in the world map.

When capturing creatures switch to story difficulty, it will auto capture right off bat without needing to press any buttons. Just bag and go. Helps on time if you want or need. Hope this helps.

Also another little tip that I found out later is that when you’re in the vivarium once you’ve brushed and fed your animals you don’t even have to walk up to each one to collect, just go to the vivarium inventory screen and collect right from there

The freezing spell also works to buy enough time to bag them

@@Domab. you don't need guides for this game, period unless you are going for 100% collections. Money is super easy to come by in the game by just selling gear.

I'm 24 hour's in and just got the first room opened up in the tower.. I'm exploring and raiding all the camps and trying to do as much as I can before I really dig into the game. Hands down the most amazing game that keeps adding new things to do and see at every turn when you think this is it!

Technically, you're still rescuing those beasts because if you catch them and bring them to... "safety", they don't get caught and mistreated or killed by the poachers, do they?

freezing spells is currently best way, and if its a 5+ trap just leviosa then freeze. when the thaw out they will fall over or stubble allowing time to catch. sad face shiny have no value yet. and ps5 can sell gear and items for more once they unlock their own shop. the breeding is definitely something i hope they expand on tho. unlocking the phoenix den up top is awesome too. the room of requirements is huge but I wish there was room for just herbology or maybe a green garden. then id have space to put up statues and furniture and such. game has huge potential or the idea of a sequel does also. good tips man

High level already ! only gets to level 40 and you have a long way to go in quests. But you realise the enemies level with you? high level for the earlier quests !!!

@aragorn4242 Not sure how accurate that is. Just rushed through to the map room for trophy with the other houses, and the enemies were level 22. I was level 11

I know everybody commented this already, but if you want to catch beasts easily without changing the difficulty to story mode, you can just spam accio to bring the beast close to you and then hit it with glacious or arresto momentum. It makes catching harder beasts like hippogriff or unicorns much much easier.

If you explore enough finding secrets and chest you’ll be swimming in money. Once you have all the broom upgrades and upgrades to buy from times and scrolls there really isn’t much else to buy. I have all broom and room of requirement upgrades and over 30k just from selling gear.

I really wish they had included the morality system in this game like they intended. Would make doing things like these and using the Unforgivables sooo much more meaningful instead of just useful.

The title is inherently misleading, however, my tip for 'rescuing' beasts is to use glacius as it lasts longer on animals due to them falling over and having the animation time of getting back to their feet before being able to run away.

the best spell to use when capturing beasts is Arresto Momentum instead of leviosa because Arresto Momentum takes longer to wear off and also when you are capturing with your nap-sack you can also walk closer to the target

you can combo 2 or maybe 3 spells with the bag to catch beasts easier, i usually combine glacius with the stopping spell and then bag, it works even with the 6 button presses beasts like unicorns

I usually use arresto momentum to stop them but this works well too

I use arresto momentum to keep them still longer than levioso, by the time they start moving again, I already caught them into the bag. That's just how I do it, everyone is free to use what they think is more convenient

Combine them. Levioso into arresto momentum, they can't even get back up before you're done bagging them

I'm about 30 hours in and just unlocked my third vivarium. While I agree breeding is passive income, it's certainly not that profitable. Each Vivarium can house 4 different creature types, so a male and female of each type takes 8 of the 12 available slots. You have to leave slots open for breeding, and each breeding cycle is 30 minutes. That means it takes 2 hours to fill the 4 empty slots that net you 120g each. I can go to a puffskein den and collect 36 of them in about 20 minutes. You can argue it's passive vs active gathering, but let's pump the brakes on being a get-rich-quick method

1 male puffskein, 5 females per room, 4 rooms, so 20 passive every 30 minutes is pretty good, and if you get the mod that expands vivarium size it's way more.

check your math. it doesn't take 2hs to fill the 4 slots, because they are bred simultaneously. So the 4 slots all fill up at the same time, in 30min (we're assuming you have 4 breeding pens conjured in each biome). Do this in all 4 biomes and you have 16 beasts every 30min, you only have to visit your room of requirement and just go sell, no need to take time specifically to go beast poaching.

try the freeze spell when capturing it works a tad bit better cuz it give u more time

tbh I prefer to just gear farm...You get so much gear from just playing..sell at the shop you get from the haunted house quest (sorry non ps5 owners) and you get better sales on them..each bandit camp takes like 1 minute to clear and you get like 1000g for each camp..but of course bandit camps are limited beast breeding isnt

tip for capturing... might be a bug, i don't know... but when you cast the spell for pulling the target down (whatever it's called) and then arresto momentum, they seem to get stuck and just lie on the ground

The mooncalf farming method is less effort and more lucrative. Collect all 8, sell for 960 coins, rest twice, fast travel back. You can make 5,000+ coins in less than 30 minutes and you aren’t limited by breeding times.

Capture 1 or 2 hyppogifs instead, feed and brush them, everytime you do that you get 3 feathers, each feather can be sold for 700 each

What are you talking about? I play on PC, so unless you're talking about the PS-exclusive quest, it's not possible to sell materials.

The babies are adorable, I LOVE the baby mooncalf... they’re so cute. My friends thought it a little weird because I think the Thestrals are beautiful.

In addition to the feeding pen if you get a toy it will play/pet them as well

i'm 10-15 hours in and i finally got to unlock the vivarium soon unfortunately the galleon situation is a bit tight so i still need to "poach" before i can start doing this passive galleon grind

After you Google “passive”, you’ll realize that it’s actually tedious work caring for beasts. I hope the next game reduces the amount of time you spend in the vivariums a lot. I would even forgo beasts entirely for a quidditch mini game. By the way, the “shiny” ones are not worth more or anything, and the glacius spell works better for capturing them.

if you are having trouble capturing the beasts switch it to story mode then catch them then switch it back

Fun fact . The " north " of the map is referred to in game as the " south "

This is nice for passive, but I also like accruing materials for the Loom. It's pretty darn quick to hit the Puffeskin Den by hogwarts and snatch up a good 6 puffskeins in less than 5 minutes. Fast travel. Repeat. Sell. Although this feels a little gimmicky and immersion breaking.

This is good because you are gonna need a lot of money to complete all the collections as some items can only be purchased in shops.

Gotta store these away for later as I havent even gotten the ROR yet. Ive genuinely leveled up like made running around the castle. Ha ah I am happpy that I can find my way from the great hall to all 4 common rooms at this point (without using the minimap etc)

I don't know why but I thought you could only put 1 breeding pen in each biome so I was only getting 4 beast per 30 mins. So this is a big help that I can be getting 4 times as many beast now.

There's that fog of not knowing, north Hogsfield is more productive $$$ than south. South's a barren wasteland but that's the xp & minibosses. (man if an update arrives do this now within current build)

I just wish you could sell resources. I have 700 mallowsweet left over after my platnium with nothing to do with it

it would be much faster to just fly around to beast dens, and catch everything till your bag it full. also Glacius works way better than leviosa. drops them to the ground, and they are usually there long enough to finish even the 5+ round catches

I didnt know about the breeding stuff and i actually found out about shiny ones accidentally when i looked at them in beasts menu they have a star next to them

What I’ve done is I farm beast feed and groom them to get their resource and then sell them so I get both materials and money

Finally, I can retire early with passive dividend income! 💸

You don’t even need more then like 30k for everything in the game .

I will have to correct you if you don't mind, 30min is a waste of time, where you could just take a short road. If you want to make heaps of Galleons, just take a flight around north and capture all the beasts you find and pay a visit to Brood & Peck and sale them and that's will take exactly 30 minutes.

the reason that you can only have 4 breeding pens per vivarium is because you only have 4 diff species. There is no upgrade later on to add more

as a person who already has 60 hours in HL even after taking about a day break i think i have a problem

It's not hard to make a lot of money in the game. I just visit the world's critter dens, clear them out, move on to the next. Combine that with hitting some of the bigger bandit camps to farm XP and dropped loot, and the breeding pens listed above. Even with only 1 pen in each vivarium, I've got about 10k galleons, most of the conjured items in stores, all the seeds, etc. I make occasional stops to the clothes shop to make sure my gear is the best I can get, then hit the loom to enchant it.

You'd make more just looting everything and selling the gear. And buying gear seems like a waste since it is incredibly easy to loot it for free.

OK, first thank you for saying hey you have to play a bunch before you can do this. Great start. I've only unlocked the first two rooms :( Oh well, I guess I need to care enough to return to the game.

Given each vivarium can have a maximum of 4 species, having more than 4 breading pens would not make much sense outside of farming animals which I don’t feel was an intended feature. Lol

Apart from some basic stuff at the start of the game, the in-game currency is hardly ever used if you set up your room u have all the mats for potions and the odd chest around supplies me with enough galleons when clothing is sold, Sure nice to have more then one needs, but no real point right now and no I'm not spending 5000 galleons on a broomstick cosmetic.

"I like this better than spending an hour farming." it takes about 3 minutes to clear out 2 puffskein dens

Just a heads up, I wouldn't suggest doing this for too long of a grind as there does get to a point (if you decide to 100% the game) where you will have way too much money with nothing to do with it.

Hit him with ice spell or put it on story mode. Gathering animals is easy mode at that point

This is the best part of the game. The money is a bonus

it is a long wait to earn 1000 just for either a pen, botanical pot of varying size and cost. not to mention some blueprint easily hit 1000+ too. i dont know how you manage to earn several thousands to begin passive income.

This is not a viable option for making money quickly. This is great for passive money if you don't need it, but >$3k/hour is nothing compared to actually farming the dens for roughly $3k/5 mins.

At this point I just got transfiguration spell, over 20k coins and I've got nothing left to buy.

The game is probably set up so that you can only have a breeding pen to accommodate each species. Since the max is 4 species for each biome then that is the only reason, I can think of. I haven't tried breeding 4 females of the same species yet. I am going to take a guess and say you probably can. But I could be wrong.

It’s literally easier to put the difficulty in story mode and clear out every den then just sell that. It’s quicker to because you can fast travel basically everywhere. No waiting 30 minutes for anything to spawn

If you put it in story mode it removes the button pressing and just sucks the animal into the bag. It also insta solves locked doors.

Wingardium levioso keeps them still longer. Use that spell.

wish you could add more species in the first vivarium i could only add four up to five.

When catching the beasts I like to use accio to bring them as close to me as possible then the freezing spell to rescue them. I hope they update the game where it changes the price on each beast depending on its rareness. Ik you’re technically rescuing them from poachers but isn’t this just a sugarcoated way of poaching? Lol

Pets respawn at their locations every day cycle ingame. And many locations has up to 9-10 beats and takes 2-3 minutes to collect which nets you 1000+ gold. i would wager thats better spent time than doing this over and over.

Just sell the gear that you dont need and you got from quest and exploring and you will have enough.Even when i was barely at lvl 25 i was destroying green gear sell rest and had enough.

Headline: Student sent to Azkaban for illegal poaching and breeding ring 😂😂😂😅 I definitely grab beasts whenever I’m close for the easy dough. I actually think the game would be better if you could sell potions instead of beasts.
