Love the banter among everyone on this show. Have been watching for many years. Seamless transition from Christopher Kimball to Bridget, and Julia.

Just finished making the whoopie pies - SO GOOD. FYI, 1/3 cup was actually a little large for the cakes. Recommend 1/4 cup.
i wish these episodes were longer since they're so wonderful

This is the length the episodes have always been for 17 years on public television. I agree though I could watch this for hours.
Hi....! I've been watching the videos for a few weeks. They are awsome and give me a lot of suggestions on what to try next. I'm from the Netherlands and moved to the US in 2012. My American husband has been guiding me through the local and American recipes, and I have a blast trying new ones. I cook and bake, I can food and make big freezer batches. It has renewed my passion for cooking. And your video's have done the same, thank you. I'm gonna have to make whoopie pies again........😉

Some of "our" most famous baked/fried sweets originate from the Dutch. Donuts are actually modified olibollen. And my favorite apple pie variant is Dutch. And don't forget Dutch Letters!

Oh-thank you guys for making cocoa powder less bitter and more chocolatey tasting. Love Dutch process cocoa. If I can't find it at the store I just won't get cocoa at all during that trip.
Love the show since Bridget and Julia took over. Very nice to watch and the chemistry between everyone seems great! it's a constant show in our home. I made this recipe and it was fantastic. Thick ... oh girl it ws thick! Awesome pie!!
I've made the Mississippi Mud Pie and it's amazing, it's a must make IMO.
“Jimmy Hoffa’s in the divets.” Love these two!
Bridget and Julia are in excellent form in this episode. I've loved these two for a long time -- so great to see them still going strong together!
these w-pies turned out BRILLIANT, my family absolutely loved them, I felt so proud lol, thanks for the great detail
I love this series! ❤️
Oh Brigitte and Julia, sorry if I misspelled your names, I love this recipe but I really love how you both are so funny but teach me so much. Love you all so much!
Love the Cook's Country intro with the soothing church and music, then chat by Julia and Bridgett.
That mud pie looked incredible!! Oh man...
Right around when this was uploaded I was very sick with something that doctors couldn't diagnose, but someone told me those symptoms were very close to mono. I was in bed, miserable, everything I ate came back up, and I was watching this episode in bed, with a pounding headache and I barely understood what I was watching. But I just remember the comfort of the guitar strings, Julia and Bridgette, and a huge chocolate craving

Was there a Whoopie Pie at the end of the light?
In Pittsburgh we call these Gobs. We coat the outside of the cake in granulated sugar which keeps the cake from sticking to your fingers and gives it a nice crunch.

I grew up in Western PA eating gobs from the local donut shop -- I was an adult before I heard the term "whoopie pie!"
Yum. I like the butter instead of shortening. It's like an extended butter cream frosting.
Jimmy Hoffa's in the divot. Ha!
I remember that episode so much and how great that pie looked. After seeing that pie I was drinking water, juice, and milk, and eating what ever I could find in the kitchen. As when seeing you all preparing that mississipi Mud Pie I was watering at the mouth then and is doing it again as I wish to be working there with you all and testing the food you all cooked in the kitchen. I love the woopee pies you all made too and was so excited and wished to have those too to eat, and lick the bowl after you was through mixing the filling ;-). I am a chow hound and love food so much and I tell my family that when I lose my appetite for food they can bet that I am very sick and should see a doctor ASAP.
Mississippi here 🙋♀️ we do hold our mud pies close to our hearts! ❤️
Happy to see Adam again!
Omg you guys are making me miss Boston way too much 😔 i just watched the video with boston cream pie & now woopie pies OH MAN!! My sister just sent me some, devil dogs and linguica so I was very 😊 happy. Thanku for the video & your knowledge. I love watching you guys
Both the Mississippi Mud Pie and the Whoopie Pies seem absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious!!!!
Made these, turned out a dream, making them again today
You guys have the best jobs ever!
I have an older food processor. It is so old it is a Sears Kenmore. Still food processing up a storm. Easy to use. Easy to clean.
I love chocolate, so it’s hard to decide which one I am making first. Thanks love your videos.

I've been looking for a cake recipe so I could put my lactose-free ice cream between the layers , found it!
Question please! Would it be possible to use the mouse from the mud pie recipe sans the cocoa powder for the filing between the mud pies? Or even with the cocoa powder added?
Yum 😋 never had one
I made these today and they taste yummy. The cakes look nothing like the ones in your video! Followed directions to the letter! They are domed as in puffed up and have cracks in the tops.not flat cakes 😩 I wish I could post a picture of them. The filling is delicious and came out great!
thank you
Those two deserts looked delicious
I had a Mississippi mud pie after a long day at the gym.
I just read a Cozy Mystery series that mentioned Whoopie Pies in each book. Now I know how to make them. Thanks for sharing!
“Jimmy Hoffa is in the divot.” Lol omg.
"Jimmy Hoffa's in the divot" Hahaha, that's awesome. I have a kitchen aid mixer and have the same problem with stuff in the divot mixing in.
Y'all ROCK IT! Rated by a confirmed choco-holic!
YES making that Mississippi mud pie for my birthday!
Chocolate makes me happy. :)
I can see it now... "rustic pesto" at every hipster restaurant 😂
I had seen on a diff vid where 350°F was the normally used oven temp. Is there a particular reason for 325°F vice 350°F for the Mud crust? Tks so much!!

I LOVE whoopie pies. I actually just did a video for Pumpkin Whoopie Pies. They came out awesome!
When making the Whoopi’s pies can you Grease or spray the pan instead of using parchment paper
Yummmmmmmmm - But how about some Moon-pies for us Southerners? Thanks
During the "COOK'S COUNTRY" opening song, you show a fruit pie being made. There's only a brief flash of what appears to be a cherry(?) pie with a pink cream top layer being poured onto the cherry(?) pie already in a pre-baked crust. WHAT IS THIS PIE? WHAT EPISODE DO YOU DEMO IT? THANKS.

I'm surprised coffee powder wasn't added to boost the flavour of chocolate. I learned that coffee does that for chocolate from you guys in the first place!
Go to Franks Bakery on State Street in Bangor Maine if you want the best Whoopie Pies . Been around 74 years. The frosting on their cakes I have never tasted anywhere ever. Unbelievably good!

The beige is also from the vanilla. Clear vanilla would give you a whiter filling, but clear vanilla tastes like fake coconut.

I have never seen or heard of those cookies, but I’ve used Oreos with the centers scraped out. I swear I used a spoon and totally didn’t use my teeth.
There is actually a name for the outside "cookie-cake-pie" part: they are "drop cakes." It's the same category as the "cookie" part of "half-moon cookies".
Question cornstarch was mentioned as being in the confectionary sugar. There was no amount mentioned either in the recipe or in the video. Is the cornstarch naturally in confectionary sugar?

Show a little respect. He was very instrumental in the founding of this show, the magazines, etc. From Wiki: "Christopher Kimball, the show's host for seasons 1-16, was the co-founder, editor, and publisher of American's Test Kitchen and its associated magazine, book, television, and radio programs from their inception through 2016." You can call him names about how he chooses to dress, but if you read one single paragraph of one of his editorials in Cooks Illustrated, you wouldn't be so derogatory toward him. Grow up, both of you.

E C762 He's never been accused of anything like that. The reason he left, from what I read, is that the board of directors (or whatever they're called) wanted to go in a different direction. They wanted to make some content free to fans. Chris wanted everything to be paid for by viewers before he let them access anything. They wanted to do things like put free episodes up on KZread. So he decided to start another business that would be in direct competition with ATK, and allegedly he set up his new business while still working for ATK. This is apparently illegal. But Chris went to his new business with one of the female staff he was seeing until his wife divorced him. So they're suing him for the secret business dealings while still working for ATK, and his ex-wife is suing him for deliberately making the company, which she owns in part, less valuable.

I've never had a Whoopie Pie before. I thought the filling was whipped cream. Mine are going to have that in the middle. The whip-combo would be way to sweet for me and my family's tastes. But thanks for the history. ;)
@boburuncle1413
4 жыл бұрын
It's not too sweet because the chocolate sponge cake isn't really sweet.Whipped cream is too sweet and light to compliment and hold the sponge.I can't speak for this recipe but I buy the true pies from the Amish at the Amish Market. They have a balance of flavor and texture unlike any other dessert. Not too sweet or I would not personally like them,as I am the person who removes most of the frosting off a cupcake.I would treat yourself and order online from the Amish in PA. to experience the real thing at least once, completely worth it and supportive of the Amish Community.

True Amish recipes do not use marshmallow fluff. Don’t know who started all that but it’s soooo wrong 😂 Equal parts shortening and butter, vanilla, confectioners sugar and you must drizzle in corn syrup. That’s a traditional filling.
The whoopie pie is Amish. It belongs in PA!

Cindy, I had this conversation with somebody the other day about how butter is so much better for you than oleo or shortening or that nasty yellow stuff that comes in cubes in a box.
