I wish there was an attachment that could turn a meat grinder into a passapatate. I actually found this video when searching for a device that could do both grinding and tomato milling since the motorized machines are nearly identical (large slow motor with an auger that pushes the product to the end). The only difference is that a meat grinder chops everything up and extrudes it through the end and a vegetable mill forces the product over a sieve so the pulp can be extracted without stuff like skin/seeds (which, in a passata you do NOT want because that's where all the bitterness comes from). I'm surprised nobody has made something like this yet, could be that homemade passata is becoming a relic of a bygone age :)

What model do you recommend for the person that has never canned? Thank you

Hi Silvia, Thanks for the question. The units are straightforward and easy to use. The models depend on how much you're looking to process. If you are doing medium to large batches I would recommend the 1/2 or 1 horse power motors. If you are doing small batches the 1/3 horse power motor will be ideal. Thank you.

In the mr2 can you strain raw tomatoes and other veggies? Also how do you make sausages if it doesn’t have the honking took ( I think that’s what it’s called lol) to purchase? We are having a dilemma on what to choose the mr2 or the Mr 8 . It’s a big difference in price and from my understanding the only difference is size of motor and that tool. Am I wrong? Thank you so much for all your advice.
