Hey guys, in this video we will show you how to make headlight crystal clear like new demonstrated on Honda Odyssey van. This procedure will work on most newer vehicles since they are equipped with plastic headlights. Plastic headlights tend to turn yellowish and fade especially when exposed to sun light. This procedure works great and it will make your headlight look and perform like new. We used sand paper by 3m or Gator, Perfect-it series rubbing compound and machine polish by 3m.

I recommend that anyone that tries this leave the tape for buffing and polishing so you dont burn the paint off the hood or bumper.

Finish product looks fantastic. One question though. At the 4:24 minute mark it shows that you are using 3M product #s 06085 (part 1) & 06064 (part 2) however the links provided above go to 3M product #s 39060 and 39061. Unless you advise otherwise I’m going to go with the products shown in the video. Thanks for taking the time to share the knowledge.

Hmmmm...after a little more research it appears the only difference between the 3M polishing compounds shown in the video and those provided in the links are their relative sizes (i.e. 1 quart vs 1 pint). As a quart would seem to be overkill for my project i'll go with the ones in the links. Finally any suggestion(s) for a UV protection product greatly appreciated.

Thank You - This worked wonderfully on my 1995 BMW headlights. I will mention that I did learn a lesson using foam pads, do not press too hard, It seemed to me that the technician in the video was giveing a good amount of pressure, I put too much and the pad heated up and left residue on the headlight, back to step one and it removed it just fine. Going at my 2014 Honda Pilot next... Thanks Again !

I've used the Turtlewax kit to clean up the yellow oxidation on Honda Accord headlight lens but took a lot longer just to get one lens clean up and it turns yellow again after about 3 years. It is weird that I had this issue only on driver side headlight, not the other one. This process is certainly a lot faster and the result is probably better than the Turtlewax product. The down side is the 3M rubbing and polishing compounds are expensive and so does the costs of the pads, assuming that you already have an orbital buffer/polisher machines. By the time it is all said and done, you are looking at at least $90-100 for the materials and another $100-200 for a good polisher machine. It is much cheaper just to use the Turtlewax kit or replace the damned lens with an after market lens for about $70-80 each. Unless you can use the kit to make some money off some other people that need their lens cleaned using the materials and the tool you have to pay for, it is not worth the time. The 3M fluid will dry up after the first use if you don't need to do another one in a couple years.
