Today on Food For The Soul, I will be showing you how to make brown gravy with flour, my recipe is really good, and get ready to learn a good recipe that will be used for years to come.
Genesis 4:7
7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
How to make Brown Gravy from scratched
Oil or butter of ur kind
1/2 sliced onions
Salt and Pepper (To Your taste)
1/4 cup of flour
4 1/2 cups of water
1 tablespoon of beef base or 3 cubes of beef bouillon
First, you put your oil, onions, and seasoning in your pan and saute the onions, to release the flavors.
Add your 1/4 cup of flour and stair and mix together until four turns brown color (add more oil if needed). Next time you can take the rendered fat from whatever meat you are cooking and use that instead of the veggie oil and bullion

This is a wonderful technique, the perfect technique to make gravy. I wouldn’t use his ingredients. I prefer butter or meat fat as I don’t like the taste of oil in gravy because it doesn’t have a pleasant taste. Also, although using those fake beef flavors works in a pinch, the next time you go to a grocery store ask the butcher for some beef scraps that you can cook or make real beef gravy. Once you try that you’ll never go back! And once you have mastered gravy, you can do so many things!

FYI to future gravy makers.. Cornstarch is easier to make gravy with because it doesn't clump like flour..also..always stir your flour or Cornstarch in a cup if cold water before introducing large amounts and stir up real good to prevent clumping when it hits the heat.

Just use chicken bones and boil the chicken bones for 45 minutes and then add your cold water and flour mixture to the hot chicken water slowly by stirring and slowly pouring the flour water mix while stirring the hot chicken broth. Add a few chicken cubes or beef cubes for color and seasoning and lots of black pepper or crushed chilies for more heat. Add a large tablespoon of butter or bacon fat at the end for a richer tasting gravy. When you make the flour and water mixture I think it is a cup of flour and to about 1.5 or 1.75 cups of cold water. You will have to play with the flour to water ratio to get the gravy thickness to the way you like. After you add the flour and cold water mixture let the gravy simmer for at least 20 minutes to thicken. Add the seasoning / salt / pepper and taste as you add in small amounts.
