HOW TO MAKE GOAN SANNAS WITHOUT TODDY | GOAN SANNAS | SWEET SANNAS | GOAN SANNAS RECIPE

Hello friends we all get that satisfaction when we prepare something of our own then getting it ready made from the market today's recipe of making sannas without using Toddy will not be changing at all and special when you are far away from your home town and you can't get access to the main ingredient that is toddy. but today I will show you how to prepare Sannas without Toddy and by using sprite you will have Same taste and flavor of goan sannas
So to prepare the plain sannas and sweet sannas without toddy the ingredients are as follows.
1 kg brown rice
1 TBS salt or (as per requirement)
1 TBS yeast
200 ml coconut water
100 ml sprite
1 bowl fresh grated coconut
100 grm jaggery
Oil to brush
Rice powder if required

    Wish you and your fly a Merry Christmas. Looks like for one kg rice 100 ml Sprite will not be sufficient along with 200 ml coconut water can I add water or use Sprite instead thanks a lot. I am making them now if possible can you reply.

    Wow, a Goan being away from Goa, very difficult to get toddy in this place. So only once in a blue moon , that is once in 8 or 9 yrs I taste Goa sannas when I go to Goa. Thank you very much.     Hi May I know while preparing this what yeast you used as I have active dry yeast and if I use half kilo rice than how the recipe follows.Also can I use a little flattened rice cause in some recipes they add it to make it soft.Please reply thank you

    Hi elias good morning well if you have active dry yeast much better still you can go with the same proportion, as you using 1/2 kg of rice you will hv to use 3/4 tbsp of yeast and the rice powder I used only to keep the right consistency hope this helps god bless

    fantastic idea of adding sprite n coconut water in lieu of toddy. Gonna try it out for sure. wud like to clarify some points. u say to grind the rice in 2 lots.     Hi Louis firstly thanks for visiting and supporting ....I had made two Batches because my blander is smaller if you HV bigger blander you can bland all at once and add 1 cup water at the same time ...well if you want to make to the same measurement I HV shown, use half cup of coconut water in first batch n thn second batch half cup.well if for any reason you loose the consistency you can use rice powered to make it thick .ihv shown in the video Hope this helps let me know if you'll need any more help on this stay safe god bless

    Thanks joss for the appreciation, well I have used white boil rice ..normal ppl would use fat brown boil rice which is easy to get in goa but the one I used are white and white fat boil rice gives much white colour sannas..pls do try it and give us ur feedback god bless

    Hi elisa we hv to use toddy for making the bal,but if ur don't hv excess to the toddy thn u can make from coconut water Recipe take one cup luke warm water add 1/2 tbsp yeast cover it n keep for aside for 30mints then in a glass jar take 1ltr coconut water add the yeast mix all well thn cover it with a cloth and leav it aside for 24hrs at a warm place and the toddy is ready Or secondly you can try the recipe of my how I used in making sannas in tht video of my I hv shown how to make toddy using sprite you can find my video on my video list Hope this helps god K2N family

    Hi francisca I HV used polished white rice traditionally thy used fat brown rice ,but you get fat white rice the colour of sannas is much better do try you will love it

    Hi.. I want to halve this recipe so while grinding 1/2 kilo brown rice can I add 100ml coconut water and is there any substitute for coconut water? Can homemade toddy be used in place of coconut water and also in the batter, Please specify how many cups. Kindly reply. Thank you so much

    Hi elias thanks for visiting our channel well I toddy is actually perfect to use thn coconut water I hv show this recipe specially for one who hv no excess to toddy and by using the method of my recipe you could feel the flavour of toddy, but if ur get toddy easily thn it perfect to use it

    Hi vineta hope you and ur family is doing very well and I must say ur little princess looks very cute bless her, well I used frozen pack of fresh grated coconut for 1 cup it was equivalent to 250grms or size of medium Coconut hope this helped is you need anything more to know pls do ask stay safe god bless

    Hi Winnie you don't need to keep it for overnight just keep for to 1hr or more fermentation

    Do you have to keep the Sanna mixture to ferment before steaming? Or do you mix the yeast mixture and right away start steaming?

    Yes its always better to keep the sannas mixture for fermentation before steaming

    Yes you can try it and it will give a good result aswell but make sure don't use to much of coconut
