This looks good it's just that I am allergic to cocoyam, what can I substitute for the coco yam

Unfortunately, Cocoyam is important because using any other thickener would change the taste totally but I would drop more soup recipes that use alternative thicknesses so stay tuned

Ogili could be a choice of flavour for this delicacy but not proper Owerri people seasoning at all. The same Ogili is ideally blend with small mortar before adding to the soup not putting directly from foil paper.

Yes, that’s true but the Woman I buy from in the market has done that process already so it saves time for me 😊

@@RecipewithMullyI think some of our mothers in market are not helping young girls on proper cooking skills. My dear using mortar takes you less than a minute.😊

@ndidiamaka. Ogili pounded with mortar and the one in a foil which one is smoother?

Boiling meat will bay leaf does not make it unauthentic. It’s same way you add seasoning cube in your food

I haven’t tried using yam of this soup but yam would give it a different taste than cocoyam. Cocoyam is essential for this soup.
