Ofe Owerri is regarded as the Igbo Soup that is exclusive to wealthy people. This is because Ofe Owerri contains different types of meat and fish, more than any other Igbo Soup.

Ingredients for Ofe Owerri
- Fish (Dry Fish, Stockfish)
- Meat (Snails, beef, cow skin, cow tripe)
- 10 corms medium cocoyams as thickener for the soup
- Quarter cup palm oil
- Quarter cup ground crayfish
- 4 small seasoning cubes
- Habanero Pepper (to your taste)
- 1 medium bunch ugu (Nigerian pumpkin leaves)
- 1 small bunch okazi (Afang leaves, Gnetum africanum)

    Weldone aunty Flo. D reason u have to transfer d soup into a container immediately is so d soup remains fresh, and d vegetable doesn't darken.. And I will eat d soup wit my cabbage fufu

    I will eat this ofe owerri with oatmeal fufu. I believe the reason why you transfer the soup to a cool container would be so that you do not over cook the vegetables/nutrients since the stove is still hot. The soup looks delicious 😋👌 with lots of obstacles. Thank you so much for sharing. Another classic recipe from Flo.

    Aunty Flo, I use food processor for pounding the cocoyam and it makes life easy biko, or sometimes i use blender, just add water and blend in small quantities, then adjust water in the soup. Thank you for this recipe, i am cooking it this weekend. (by the way i used your ofe achara- mgbam recipe to try out last weekend)

    This one enter well well. I will download it with hot yellow garri or fufu, then wash down with water & go to sleep😴😴. I love combining palm fruit extract with a little palm oil. Big man soup👍.

    Heyyy we also cook this soup in cameroon "bakossi" and used to quarell my granny how will she cook soup with cocoyam. Her response always"what do you know🤣🤣🤣🤣

    After pounding the cocoa yams put half the quantity of what you are going to use and pound together and then put in your soup you will not see any lumps of cocoa yams

    In my Country🇬🇾Guyana, we dont mix meat and fish in one pot whether soup stew etc but every Country has it's own diet, eating styles and ways of food preparation am here to learn and love

    This soup reminds me my favourite restaurant in Ikenegbu area in Owerri, I have been visiting each time I'm in Nigeria for many years now, my jaws always hurts because of too much stockfish and snails but price have been adding 500naira every year, last year was 4500 this year I expect 5k but its worth it,

    The main vegetable for ofe owerri is okazi not utazi and ugu & oha is optional, but some people do mix utazi and okazi oo

    @@amakafaith9564 yes the main ofe owerri is thicken with yam. Vegetables are ugu , oha and ukazi and uzuza leaves. Enjoy!!!!

    I've never made this before but the one I ate had long leaves which I like more. Can you cut utazi leaves in long sections instead of small and thin?

    Great job! I’m Akwa/Cross so we don’t mix okazi with the pumpkin leaves. We use them separately in different dishes. I’m curious about the aroma. I’m sure it would definitely taste delicious! Yummy!!

    Flo Chinyere oh wow, in America the only thing I get fresh is okra. Every other things are frozen or dry which tastes horrible. I want fresh ugu and oziza so bad. Even scent leaf, I can’t find it fresh.
