How to make Gems from Plastic Bottle Caps - Easy DIY Recycle/ Eco-Friendly Tutorial
Want to save the planet a little and turn some trash into treasure?! Then this is a tutorial about how you can turn bottle caps into some cool looking faux/ fake gems or jewels (though realistically you could turn them into anything that you have a mould for - anything from cameos, to stars, to shells - there are plenty of silicone moulds out there you can get rather cheaply that you could use.
And the best thing, most of what I used in this video I had laying around the house. The only thing I needed to collect were the bottle caps!
These are honestly so lightweight and perfect to add to armour (armor) or some sort of accented or jewellery piece on your next cosplay.

How fun! I imagine this could be used to replicate a miriad of items. Love the sandwich press idea. It's been long enough that I cannot remember the toxicity of particular plastics when heated to melting point. It's always a good idea to wear eye protection & work in a well ventilated area. (That was to keep my conscious clean. If you'd ever read the incident reports that I have, you'd understand.)
@KirileeCosplay
3 жыл бұрын
Fair enough! Because of this type of plastic, it is non-toxic at these levels.
Omg this is so cool! Thanks for sharing this idea 💕 now I need a sandwich press to try this 😂😂
@KirileeCosplay

You can do the same effect with a heat gun instead if you have that- the sandwich press is just easy because you have heat from both sides ^_^

Oh, that's pretty nifty. Question though. Any idea how to effectively remove the liner out of caps with them? I know for a fact that Coke and other brands use HDPE now for their caps so we can use reliable colors.

Would this idea work with silicone molds for beads? I'm curious about how this would play out....

It could work but might be a bit fiddly as it doesn't get to a liquid state

How so? We are taking a product that is already in existence and rather than putting it into landfill, we are changing it into something that can be reuse/ repurposed.
