How to Make Fruit Pies from Avatar the Last Airbender | Feast of Fiction | Cartoon Food In Real Life

INGREDIENTS
1½ cup graham cracker crumbs, crushed
5 tbsp butter, melted
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1 can sweetened condensed milk
4 egg yolks
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp strawberry jam
1 tbsp blueberry jam
1 tbsp orange marmalade
1 tbsp lemon curd
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tbsp sugar
½ tsp vanilla
Gel food coloring (pink, purple, orange, yellow)
4-6 ramekins
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease 4 ramekins with non stick spray, canola oil or butter.
2. In a medium bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs and melted butter in a bowl until well combined. Divide into ramekins until evenly distributed. Pack down in the crumbs in the bottom of the ramekins to create crust. Blind bake for 8-10 minutes. Let cool to room temperature. Adjust oven temperature to 350 degrees F.
3. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk until combined. Add the yolks, and whisk until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract.
4. Add a tablespoon of different jams or curd to each one. You can make all the same flavor or use any flavor combination. Smooth out a layer of jam/curd around the bottom of the crust.
5. Pour the cream cheese mixture into each of the ramekins on top of the jam.
6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the center is set. Cool to room temperature before placing in the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.
7. While pies are chilling, make the whipped cream by whipping heavy cream and sugar in a mixer until it reaches stiff peaks. Divide the whipped cream into 4 bowls and color each bowl according to the flavors of each fruit pie.
8. Once fruit pies have cooled, carefully remove pies from ramekins. Pipe a dollop or spoon a dollop of tinted whipped cream onto each of the pies before serving.

Gyatso's pies looked a little more like a bundt cake, with the gooey center actually filling the cake-y part, rather than just sitting atop it...

Make cactus juice next time for this summer, for they'll quench us! It's the quenchiest! And make Hama's water tribe soup and the tea as well. Legend of Korra is coming up next month, please make Spirit cakes and Iroh's tea!
As much as I love the way this recipe looks, I do wonder if we could make it even more true to the show. Making the whip more fluffy, making the cake more gooey, and, as true to the Air Nomad tribe in Avatar, vegetarian :) But either way I love this, it is fantastic!

@@mclaire9447 Technically it is, but I've seen so many different rule sets for vegetarian lifestyles (some allow for fish, some allow chicken, some say no animals at all) to the point where I meant to say vegan, as vegan cuts out all animal stuffs and byproducts. lol

The only problem i have with this recipe is that they are too small. The ones in the show are the size of a small dinner plate in circumference.

I have baking days where I literally spend all day baking cookies, brownies, biscuits, cakes, whatever the family demands for snacking. These are so simple and would be easy additions.

I got the cookbook for my birthday and it was awesome. The first thing I made was the butterscotch cinnamon pie. It was utterly incredible. I’m making the fire flakes next!

I made the fruit pies a days ago. They were absolutely delicious! I even made strawberry jam for the filling because I ran out of rasberry jam. Again, it was delicious and worth it.
