things that helped me make friends at uni: 1 - don't be on your phone ALL the time. one time i was just sitting on a bench and a girl started to talk to me and now we are really good friends!😊 2 - use fandoms/bands/singers merch, trust me its so easy to start conversations 😄😁 3 - if you find out that someone is going home the same way that you ask them if you can go together ( this one also helped me a LOT) 4 - as Marla said, don't be afraid of starting the conversation. Sometimes the other person wants to talk to you but they're afraid too (sorry for my english😅 i hope this will help someone😊❤)

I thought I would be like that for the rest of my life, it was really strange for me to think things would escalate in better way, but it has happened. Now, I'm proud of the fact I have a few friends that I've been in company with from primary school because they are very special to me in every aspect. Just think that less is more if it's quality.

another way to start a convo: if you guys are in a class together and you have a question DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK THEM. this is a great convo starter and it also allows you guys to sorta get comfortable talking and conversing with each other. About the gum/pen one: I had a friend a few years ago (I would like to say we were already pretty close) but after a while, I started giving him gum after lunch every day. Since our teacher would always be watching us, we found really creative and stupid ways to pass gum to each other, and that really helped us become better friends because we would always laugh at the ways we passed the gum. Also, I sat next to a girl a few years ago and I forgot my eraser and I asked her if I could borrow hers. we eventually became close friends and she honestly helped make the class a lot more enjoyable. SO IT WORKS GUYS DON'T BE AFRAID CUZ IT WORKS (at least for me)

I've been trying to break into these friend groups and it's so tough because no matter how much i try to be myself and be easy going at the same time i still feel like an outsider to everyone it's like they don't take me seriously. I am well liked but not wanted and it sucks because I always seem to be the only one always left out whenever we hangout and i never get invited into things which makes me feel even more awkward cuz i always see them talking about things and going out on "our" group chat but um, yet despite all of that i still try to get along more with them and invite myself to their meetups even tho that'll probably make me look like a pushover lol i guess I'll try to handle it as cool as i can. Shanna Fei Almeda It’s okay, maybe those people in that friend group aren’t supposed to be your close friends, and that’s okay :) I don’t have many friends lol but I think some good advice would be to be open minded of who you want to be your friend, and not expect certain people to be your friends. For example, there’s a lot of people at school who I want to be friends with, but we can’t/don’t talk that much. There’s a bunch of great people out there to be your friend so don’t have your heart set on a couple of people, hope that helps ❤️

(This is all venting, you don’t need to read it) I’ve never had social anxiety or any fears with talking to literally anyone, and yet I’ve never had any friends since I was in middle school. I’m a college student now btw, and I always went out of my way to strike a conversation with my classmates, I talk about things like homework and other class related things, but they never talk to me after, they move seats the next day or they ignore me. I never understood this, even now though I disregarded it as a normal thing, but walking alone from school is just saddening and I imagine what it would be like if I did have friends. The only people that are my friends are my family. But it’s hard to talk to them about my time in college because I never go out, and I can’t tell them about this person or that one because I don’t have anyone to talk about. I always see these group of people walking together laughing, and I envy them. I honestly just wish I didn’t think anything of it, and that I don’t start to cry when I’m alone in my room for the millionth time.

I think I'm really capable of giving really good tips on friendship. I've been through the worst friendship break and it was because I couldn't be myself with them and to tell you the truth I stopped believing in best friend and I still don't use that word, not because I don't believe in friendship but because it puts too much expectations on people. Some tips: 1. Be yourself and I swear it sounds cheesy but it's true trying out a persona will make you tried. And if they don't like real you it's time to leave them. 2. Stop putting too much expectations on your friends. I know they are your ride and die but putting your ideal situation on them won't work. Being extremely crafty I always made extravagant birthday cards for my friends and not getting back would hurt me alot but I realised as I grew I'm doing it to show my love it's not necessary for them to do the same, everyone got their way to show their love. 3. It's okay to not have friends sometimes. You could feel lonely but remember you are your best friend (ik I don't like that word but I can have expectations from myself). When you love yourself and put yourself first you would be happy and people will gravitate towards your aura. 4. I know it can be intimidating to approach people, the best tip is if you find someone interesting and you wanna be friends with them. Observe them and start conversation about something you both have in common. Like if you are in the same club talk about why you joined it and then they can answer or if you find you both like the same singer talk about it.

Yooo that made me remember when in Year 6 afew of the Primary Schools where going to Highschool I was In one of them and then Haiden someone from Another school was insulting me alot and I wasn't doing much about it because I didn't care all to much but in Year 7 when we actually went into Highschool we became somewhat Friends and now that we are in Year 8 we are really good Friends He has a good sense of Humour and He is a Blessing to this World just by being put into it

Abby Good luck :) remember to be yourself and don’t be fake, but also remember that no one knows you at your new school, so you can portray yourself as the person you’ve always wanted to be (advice I wish I took when I moved to a new school lol)

I literally haven't made a friend in my whole life, not that I don't have any friends, but I'm not the one that approaches and I know that's just the opposite to what Marla said lol but it has worked for me in every aspect of my life and I'm 23 yo

This video is honestly the most helpful videos om making friends I have seen. I struggle with social anxiety and therefore ended up shutting down and leaving the school year hiding in the lunch breaks. This makes me feel less weird and less alone. Not having friend’s doesn’t bother me. It’s feeling judged and fear of pity etc that gets to me. I want friends to not feel like an outcast. Cause it HURTS

I low-key just want one really good friend 🥺

it’s especially really hard to make friends online but these are IMMACULATE TIPS

This is life changing advice. I've been all over the internet trying to find out what I'm doing wrong when it comes to socializing. But this video is actually giving the advice I needed to grow as a person. I'm gonna try some of this out tomorrow at school. Wish me luck ;3

Hey Marla, Great videos, specifically the ones about the difficulties of being a teenager and how to overcome them. I am a Mental Health therapist and have been working with teens for over fifteen years. I am always searching KZread Videos for great tips for my teen clients (they can relate better with their peers). Your videos are pretty light-hearted and casual and address many of the issues my teen clients come across. I also appreciate it when you mention some things you struggle with and being ok with it, that shows a huge sign of maturity. Keep up the good work!

it's so hard to make friends after I've been homeschooled for almost 4 years now, I used to be really good at making friends like the whole class was my friend but now I can't make a single friend without having a panic*** attack... maybe its just cuz It was easier making friends when I was younger

@@carmen-jj6bu hii, I haven’t gone yet, I start the first. I’m still really nervous but trying to keep a open mind that at the end of it I will be fine and so will you! It takes time to find the right people, but soon enough you will find them. Just be yourself and everything will come into place, let life do it’s thing, trust it! I wish you the best of luck. @@carmen-jj6bu If having friends is important to you, then just don't give up. Most people at my school who don't have friends have given up trying to reach out to the people around them. You will be fine, I'm am incredibly shy and eventually found friend in highschool.

having the resting bleep face is a real thing, people are scared to approach me because of it
